Girl faces deportation over vaccine (Gardasil)

An adopted teen who has lived in Port St. Joe, Fla. since she was 3 faces possible deportation to England for refusing a vaccination, she and her mother say.

Simone Davis, 17, said she has no need for the vaccine Gardasil, which guards against the sexually transmitted human papillomavirus virus, because she is not sexually active, ABC News reported.

But the U.S. government requires female immigrants between the ages of 11 and 26 to receive Gardasil shots before they can become citizens.

Simone was abandoned as a baby in England and adopted at 3 by her paternal grandmother, Jean Davis, who married an American and moved to Port St. Joe, Fla.

Jean Davis started applying for citizenship for Simone nearly 10 years ago, ABC said.

As a devout Christian who has taken a virginity pledge, Simone argues she is in no danger of getting cervical cancer and sees no reason to get the vaccine. American-born girls are encouraged, but not required, to get the vaccine.

Simone and Jean Davis sought a waiver on moral and religious grounds, but were turned down. They have 30 days to appeal the ruling. Without citizenship, Simone can be sent back to England, ABC said.

"I kind of feel like they may be experimenting with immigrants to see how we will react and then give the vaccine to citizens," Simone said. "If it is such a great vaccine, why isn't it mandatory for everyone?"

It is a legal requirment to take the vaccine. She’s in violation of that.

That = crime

Ship the wannabe anchor baby out!

Anchor baby?

You have to be born here to be an anchor baby. In which case, (a) you can't be shipped out, and (b) in 35 years you're eligible.

She wasn't born here. She's not an anchor baby.

“Oh really a child born on US. Soil isn’t a citizen?! Do tell!”

The 14th Amendment is clear on the subject. A child born to foreign nationals on US soil is not a US citizen. Senator Howard was quite clear on the matter.

Of course, the rest of the Constitution is ignored too.

Geez - what are they going to start doing to the girls who are already citizens who haven’t had it? On the second shot,my daughter had a terrible reaction so I didn’t allow them to give her the 3rd. Her arm had an enormous welt - about the size of a small platter - it lasted for over a week and was extremely painful.

“She refuses to follow the law of the land! Ship the wannabe anchor baby out!”

lol, her adopted mother is her grandmother and her grandmother married an American so she doesn't need citizenship to stay in the country. BTW, shes British. Are you really racist against British? You are pretty funny. Thx for the laugh.

“Patriots adhere to the law. Trolls give safe harbor to those that violate it...”

So our founders were trolls? I’d wager you have broken several “laws” today. Remember:

“There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted and you create a nation of law-breakers.”

No, but there is no violation of terms of stay. Its only if she wants to become a CITIZEN, does she have to take the vaccine. Do you have a problem with logic, or are you so keen on making illegal mexicans overstay, that you are willing to declare legal immigrants casualties of your ignoramy?

You missed the point. The point is that you can’t have a hard and fast rule of “all laws must be obeyed.” Quite simply, very often we can find that some laws are unjust. Much like the Jim Crow laws, or the current “legality of abortion is the law of the land.”

Some laws are wrong and using the legal means to challenge unjust laws should be supported. Which is precisely what this article is discussing.
