Just how many people turned out at the Sept. 12 march on Washington?

Politifact reported that Pete Piringer, public affairs officer for the Washington, D.C., Fire and Emergency Department "unofficially" estimated that between 60,000 and 75,000 people attended the march.

Officers with the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department told WND the department does not provide crowd estimates. Capitol police declined to comment.

However, Wizbang estimated between 500,000 and 1 million. The blog displays the following time-lapse image of the march:

He looked a bit P’od.

Not nearly as P'od as he'll look when the plethora of "letters to the editor" start arriving at Fox. I'm getting the word out about his leftist antics.

Someone edited that video. Notice as soon as the crowd gets about one block down Pennsylvania Ave, the entire length to the capitol fills up.

It looks to me like the crowd was 2x-3x the length of Pennsylvania Ave.

Using the Obama crowd estimator from USA today to get an idea of the numbers. The 240,000 area is definitely filled. If you take all the people along the road and placed them on the 946,000 mall area, it would be fill a minimum 1/3 of it. There is no possible way the crowd was less than 500,000. You be the judge:

Which building in the “inauguration” image is the one with the flagpole from the traffic cam image? Is it slightly “out of the picture” to the right?

The estimates of the crowd matter less than the number of p.o.’d voters who will turn up at the polls next year and vote the libs out.

He’s an idiot. I’ve been to both the Kentucky Derby and the Indy 500 and neither come even close to this crowd.

Beck said the University of IL did a study from the pictures.
They said one million.

HUGE difference between 75,000 and 500,000 to 1 million. I can see an estimate being off 10,000 or so, maybe a little more...but to be off hundreds of thousands seems rather odd.

Oh? What data did they use and what method. Look — guesses are guesses! University, police, media bwana — all guesses.

Somebody, please, give a verifiable method that doesn’t have too many assumptions, and isn’t lumpy in one place and razor sharp in another.

I agree. Just from looking at the pics on TV, it appeared to be several hundred thousand. Don’t know why he would try to downplay the event, but he seemed to smirk at every mention.
