RUSH: And you enjoyed it for all the reasons that you've mentioned. But we've gotta be really, really careful here, Dana, about this left versus right government thing. You mentioned third party, and we've been through this with Perot.
CALLER: I know that. I know that. And I think Perot helped Clinton get in, I don't doubt that. I do believe there has to be a huge movement before people can vote that way.
RUSH: But a third party is not going to do anything other but ensure the reelection of Obama and every other Democrat running for office because even if you come up with a charismatic third-party presidential candidate, still isn't going to have anybody of any significance running in that party for seats in Congress of the US Senate unless this movement happened to become the majority movement in the country, and that's not what's happening. I respectfully disagree with you here. I understand the anger at the Republican Party. Hell, I've got it, too. I've had it for a long, long time. But don't make the mistake of thinking this is not a left versus right thing. This is a conservative ascendancy that's going on out there. You didn't show up and protest like this when the Republicans were in power.

“IN THE PRIMARIES, I vote for my ideal candidate, but when that candidate has lost to another less than ideal candidate, I have voted for that candidate AGAINST THE DEMOCRAT in the general election.”
Voting as a “Yellow Dog”, whether Democrat or Republican, means the Republican can ignore you with impunity. You’ll still vote for them.
You still get evil.
I am amazed that there are people who can make such wild assumptions about other peoples ideas.
Where do you get that I “feel the need to destroy the very premises of American governance and liberty” ?
Exactly, all politics is local and no third party is going to solve that, it has to be solved by their local population and voters getting fed up.
I repeat we didn’t have one decent candidate... if the people had been in love with any of the candidates that person would have won IOWA and NH and gone on to sweep the rest of it. We haven’t had an exciting candidate since Reagan.
“Exactly, all politics is local and no third party is going to solve that, it has to be solved by their local population and voters getting fed up.”
History can and has repeated itself. The GOP has not exactly existed since the Founding.
So... can you do something about McCain next time he’s up for reelection?
You will ALWAYS get “evil”.
Thats all we can create out of fallen humanity.
We can strive for something better, but any idea that we can get “good” out of politics is a delusion.
I get called this every day Rabs. It means you have a brain and guts for not following the sheep. Conservative republicans took congress in 1995 (historic win) BECAUSE Bush Sr won. There is now a conservative uprising among independents some voted for him because McCain lost. If McCain had won by one state republicans would have a political nightmare right now, continuing the past two years. Now democrats are in for a couple years of pain(forced to discount growing anti-Obama Americans as hateful racists) , if not more.
Rush is still a little too republican for my taste . But Levin and Hannity are wauy worse, Hannity is owned by RNC and GM.
“if the people had been in love with any of the candidates that person would have won IOWA and NH and gone on to sweep the rest of it.”
By the time half the country - including my state - voted, the candidate was already decided. It isn’t “the people” who are deciding this, but little NH. Not exactly a conservative bastion.
That CANNOT stand!
I do get evil when the democrat wins, but I’m not stuck in stupid. Third party votes are exclusively reserved for the wholly stupid.
Stuck up stupid is voting for George Bush, who did more to advance big government than any president since FDR. We are still paying for that act of stupidity.
I've heard Glenn describe himself as a conservative with some libertarian leanings. He is not a Republican.
I'm going to have to check out his show. But if Beck can't bring himself to say "the Democrats are evil" without having to say "and so are the Republicans" then he is a bi-partisan first and foremost in my book.
There are others like that, regardless of their ideology. Joe Scarborough and BOR are two that come to mind.
“You will ALWAYS get evil.”
So, the choices are
(1) the big government, cap-and-trade, anti-freedom, tax-and-spend liberal
or
(2) the Democrat.
That’s the only choice? Yes, you will always get “evil” from humanity, but sometimes....
“Third party votes are exclusively reserved for the wholly stupid.”
Voting against your principles and conscience is what has gotten us into this mess. It is the very betrayal of what it means to be a Citizen.
“Stuck up stupid is voting for George Bush, who did more to advance big government than any president since FDR.”
LBJ.
Because you reduce the Declaration’s principles to mere “observations about human nature.”
Those principles are the cornerstone of our form of government and of American liberty. In fact, they are the first premises of the organic law of the United States of America.
Undercutting them is destructive of the entire edifice.
Is George Bush running again?
Don’t confuse ‘corporatism’ with the left-wing distortions of a government controlled or partnered with corporations.
This idea of too much private wealth leading to Fascism was created by FDR in his scare-mongering to socialize America under his “New Deal.” (But then again, a Roosevelt might know something about wealth leading to Fascism.)
Familiarize yourself with the transitions from socialism to syndicalism to fascism. When ‘corporatism’ is talked about in this context, it is syndicalist corporatism, or the Corporative State.
Today he asked for 56 patriots inside the government to come forward to tell what they know; spill their guts, seek redemption. (Good luck with that).
I never said I voted against my principles, so do not presume anything about me and do not lecture me.
