More AQ video activity today - well beyond that required to simply rub our faces in the 9/11 anniversary. This makes #3 or #4 in the very recent past.

Al-Qaeda Releases Video for Eighth Anniversary of 9/11 9/23/2009

Al-Qaeda’s media arm, as-Sahab, for the eighth anniversary of 9/11, released a two part Arabic-language documentary-style video, 106-minutes in length total, on jihadist forums on September 22, 2009. The video is titled: “The West… and The Dark Tunnel.” Similar to previous 9/11 anniversary videos, this production features members of al-Qaeda leadership, including Ayman al-Zawahiri, Mustafa Abu al-Yazid, Attiya Allah, Abu Yahya al-Libi, and Adam Gadahn (AKA Azzam the American), speaking in regard to events in the past year such as the global financial crisis, election of US President Barack Obama, and American foreign policy, and conditions of their jihad in its

“Entertainment venues put on terror watch
Arenas, hotels urged to be vigilant on security, but no specific threat cited”
DESERT SUN STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS
SEPTEMBER 23, 2009

snippet: “WASHINGTON — Counterterrorism officials have issued security bulletins to police around the nation about terrorists’ desire to attack stadiums, entertainment complexes and hotels — the latest in a flurry of such internal warnings as investigators chase a possible bomb plot in Denver and New York.

In the two bulletins — sent to police departments Monday and obtained by The Associated Press — officials said they know of no specific plots against such sites, but urged law enforcement and private companies to be vigilant. These two bulletins followed on the heels of a similar warning about the vulnerabilities of mass transit systems.”

More raids in NYC last night.. No arrests reported, but the number of possible/potential ‘suspects’ has been upped to 24...

Waiting for confirmation and/or clarification....

“NYPD: City Kept Safe As Terror Investigation Widens”
By: NY1 News

SNIPPET: “While authorities reportedly say there may be more suspects linked to the alleged terrorist plot uncovered in the city, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly has reassured New Yorkers that it poses no threat to the city at large.

Officials reportedly say there may be 16 to 20 more suspects who are connected to the 24-year-old former Queens resident Najibullah Zazi.

There were also reports of law enforcement officials visiting fertilizer manufacturers and storage facilities which could potentially serve as bomb making factories.”

SNIPPET: “Meanwhile, Kelly says the city is already at a security level that exceeds cities around the world, and that has not changed as a result of two FBI bulletins warning about terror plots.

“We have not engaged in any different practices or increased our security,” said the police commissioner. “As I say, we do a lot every day, devote over 1,000 police officers every day to protect this city from a terrorist threat, so we have not increased that number of resources.”

MTA officials also say there is “no credible threat” to the transit system and that they are in constant contact with federal, state and local law enforcement.

The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security have issued two security bulletins about general terrorist interest in attacking stadiums, hotels and entertainment venues. Federal officials are also warning mass transit systems around the country to be on the alert.

“We have kept at a higher level for a long time, so we didn’t have to change anything,” said the mayor, “but I think the increase in security that the federal government’s called for in most places really is merited. We’ve always thought so and I’m glad to see that others are thinking so as well.”

The New York City Police Department says it’s already put extra attention on the subway tunnels, ventilation system, and certain emergency exits since the London bombings in 2005.

Security experts agree that the subway can be especially vulnerable to terrorist attacks.”

” Nothing on Fox News web site about the new raids yet. “

Thanks for checking....

This story just seems to get more weird with every advance...

(Not the least of the weirdness is the way the media, and the public, yawns — it wasn’t all that long ago that this would have been wall-to-wall coverage....)

Fox just said something on air about it.

Something about how they’re looking for 24 more people.

I’m used to reading stuff like this Uncle Ike.

It’s an ongoing investigation.

It’s still breaking news.

Some facts will slip through and get printed in the news.

It’s a fine art to speak directly and truthfully and not spread
panic unnecessarily. As of this date, no one has mastered this
fine art.

The global jihad did not stop with 9/11 or since 9/11; therefore
my personal alert level has never changed.

NEWBERRY, SC (WIS) - Authorities are searching a Newberry College dormitory using police dogs and a bomb robot after a device exploded inside the building Wednesday.

A Newberry police spokesperson said the device exploded in the Brokaw Dormitory, which houses freshman students at the college. No injuries have been reported, and the dorm was evacuated.

Authorities did not say what type of device exploded, and would not call it an actual “explosive device.” So far there’s no word on the size or nature of the explosion.

The spokesperson said State Law Enforcement Division agents are currently searching the building with police dogs and a robot. Newberry County deputies are also on the scene.
