It was to support and defend the Constitution as well as to serve honorably. That is all I have ever wanted to do.

That's it. Plus the camaraderie.

Although I was an IMA, what you would call a DIMA (24 IDTs 12 AD days a year, min) although we did not use the term (Air Force mid 80s), we had a "training detachment", made up of intelligence types for the most part, along with a small group of technical types attached to the detachment for IDT. All of us did our AD at our unit of assignment. But even during IDT we supported the active force, and a local reserve unit too. (and they supported us with use of their facilities..A Total Force effort). .

We still get together a few times a year, for BBQ and BS. It's great.
