Is It ‘Conspiratorial’ to Discuss Obama’s Authoritarian Tendencies?
Pajamas Media ^ | Sept. 14 | Mary Grabar

Michael Medved placed Georgia Congressman Paul Broun’s comments about Obama wanting an authoritarian regime into the category of “conspiracies” on a recent “conspiracy Friday” show. He said that such statements did not “help” the conservative cause.

Medved echoes what I hear from some conservative colleagues in the academy who do not want to be labeled “extremist,” who would like to wait for all the evidence, archived and footnoted, to come in before they draw conclusions.

History will tell if Congressman Broun is right. But history most often tells us what happens when individuals are afraid to take action, when they wait.

Last summer many saw a professor and former Harvard Law Review president and could not think of him as harboring any authoritarian tendencies, even though the evidence was there. Several conservatives supported Obama over McCain. Peggy Noonan was waxing poetical about history.

In the meantime, the common folks “clung” to their religion and guns, and bought even more guns and ammunition. Some of these folks have parents who remember what it was like to live defenseless under a communist regime that controlled the media and everything else. Some, having had to live and work in the real world for generations, have a healthy skepticism of elites....

I am getting a bit tired of folks being hammered by other conservatives for seeing parallels between obama adminstration moves toward, well, fascism... and the moves of Germany’s “national socialists” in the 1930’s.

Not to mention the creepy parallels in the life histories, formative events, and personal traits of obama and Hitler.

It would be interesting to see what is wrtiten 50 years from now.

Medved is certainly welcome to his opinion. Unfortunately for him, I have no use for his opinion. His attitude of “go-along-to-get-along” is quaint, at best.

Use the Bush test. The left seemed to know whether they were being conspiring with the things they did to GW Bush.

It wasn't a conspiracy to make a movie on assassinating George W Bush in a movie ( won an award in Canada.),

As conservatives we are reminded that a spirit of “bipartisanship” must always serve as the great moral compass for our actions. Look how well it worked for Juan McCain!

It sounds like Medved is in the camp of wanting to "see how things play out" before taking decisive action.

The fact that there are false conspiracy theories does NOT mean that there is no such thing as a real conspiracy.

All it takes for a REAL conspiracy is for two or more people to agree to work together toward an illegal goal. If you have that, you have a conspiracy. A real one.

The fact of the matter are the 0 regime with it czars and it stealth nationalization of industries is fundamentally fascist in outlook. It maybe a benign fascism, it maybe a fascism of good intention but it is none the less fascist.

The 0's regime habitual answer to every issue is to centralize power in a few hand directly under command of the "Dear Leader".That, in a nut shell, is fascism.

Putting his hands over his ears, closing his eyes and screaming "no no no" as Medved is doing is childish at best.

No, but it is racist.

Do I really need a sarcasm tag?

“No, but it is racist.”

I am a white heterosexual male, born and raised in South Carolina and descended from confederate veterans on both sides of the family, it is racist for me to breathe but I intend to breathe anyway.
