Day in the Life of Bibi Netanyahu 9/14/09: "No settlement freeze"

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appears to have rebuffed US demands for a total freeze on settlement building in the West Bank.

He is quoted as saying he had told Washington he would instead consider "scaling down construction" .

The US has called on Israel to halt all construction work in a bid to restart peace talks with the Palestinians.

US Mid-East envoy George Mitchell is in the region to finalise terms for renewed peace talks.

The US hopes the Israeli and Palestinian leaders will meet on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting in New York later this month.

Mr Mitchell said, after talks with Israeli President Shimon Peres on Sunday, that they were working hard to reach agreement on "many outstanding issues".

'Strike a balance'

Mr Netanyahu is reported to have laid out his position on settlement construction to the Knesset's Security and Foreign Affairs committee on Monday.

Bibi knows how to wear a suit, just like President Bush.

I think this may be the cause of Bibi's scar: "Mr. Netanyahu participated in various missions during the War of Attrition, including the Beirut Airport operation. He took part in the rescue of the hijacked Sabena Airlines hostages at Ben Gurion Airport, in which he was wounded. He was also cited for outstanding operational leadership by O.C. Northern Command, the late Maj. Gen. Motta Gur. He was discharged from the I.D.F. in 1972 and reached the rank of captain following the Yom Kippur War."

Bibi in Egypt.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu talks during a meeting of the Foreign Affairs committee in the Knesset, Israel's Parliament, in Jerusalem, Monday, Sept. 14, 2009. Israeli media say Netanyahu has told lawmakers that Israel will not totally freeze West Bank settlement construction. They say Netanyahu also told a parliamentary panel that Israel will continue to build as usual in east Jerusalem.

A general picture shows part of the largest Jewish settlement of Maale Adumim, east of Jerusalem, on September 14, 2009. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ruled out a complete freeze in settlement activity as demanded by the US and said talks with Washington were ongoing over how long any halt would last.

You can’t stop building because families keep growing.

You should actually build extra to save costs later.

Wow, those are some fine homes. By contrast, Arabs seem quite content to live in squalor. I remember Israel left hothouses in Gaza which produced tomatoes for export to Europe. Misguided American Deformed Jews created a $500,000 fund to help maintain the facility so the Arabs could take over and make it work.

Guess what? On the first day the IDF forced out the Jews and withdrew, the Arabs demolished the hothouses. Within a year they were using the site to fire rockets into Israel. There is NO PEACE WITH SUCH ANIMALS. EVER.

By default and his own courage, IMO, PM Netanyahu has become the leader of the free world. More than anyone else, he will save the free world from an otherwise nuclear Iran.

I respect, honor and pray nightly for the safety and health of Benjamin Netanyahu.

Actually, the greenhouses still exist in Gaza. There was some minor damage at the time of the withdrawl, which was misreported as them being “destroyed.” In fact, they are quite productive, but have been unable to get permission to export their products.

Thanks for the info. Do you knmow who was responsible for the damage? I saw one MSM newspaper who blamed Israeli settlers, in part, had been under pressure to correct but can’t remember what happened...
