George Stephanopoulos says that the Wednesday night speech stopped the slide, as the Washington Post/ABC poll results show Barack Obamas speech on Wednesday night mainly flopped. Unfortunately, even with a ridiculous 11-point spread between Democrats and Republicans in the latest poll sample, Obama still cant get to 50% support on health care leadership, dropped another point from the last poll on the economy, and lost six points between overall approval and disapproval over the last month:
Our new ABC News/Washington Post poll out this morning shows that the Presidents joint session speech may have stopped his summer slide, but it doesnt appear to have been the game-changer Democrats were hoping for.
No doubt Obamas passionate presentation energized his partisans and began to unify Congressional Democrats, but this poll is the best evidence yet of where the public stands and it demonstrates how difficult it will be for Obama to shape the debate and overcome skepticism about his plan.

Wha? You mean that Obama don’t got no game?
Heck, he don’t got nuttin!
Why has ramussen so off again ???? just goes to show to not poll on weekends !
Americans do not want Socialism.
His speech was a gutter ball.
I think mebbie Nikola may be on to sumthin when she said that 9/9/09 is the day that will be remembered as the day that Obamas vocal Mojo crashed. Sure there was some resonating qualities to his speech, but frankly he wasn’t “live”...he was memorex, and a little tinny at that... Nikola says the less than memorex effect is only going to become more pronounced as skeptiicism of what he actually says grows. Not too long from now the Pioed Piper spell will be completely broken, and he will become a figure of fun.
I dont know what to believe anymore. No game changer???
Okay.... when's the next speech and what season premier is he going to pre-empt.
Even though the Pundits predicted a bounce from the speech, it did not happen. The men behind the curtain who control Obama know that he can not sway people with persuasive speeches, so they have gone back into campaign mode: speeches high in emotion, empty in substance.

Here’s my take on the Rasmussen bounce:
I think the liberals who didnt respond strongly approve and even responded to disapprove because bammy wasnt strongly enough socialist, are circling the wagons for a last stand.
What they dont get is that this is Custers last stand, all over again.
More and more indies and moderate liberals to Hillary staunch will be aligned against him, imho, as we head forward.
Lets not lose heart - I think the poll bounce is temporary.
We need to keep getting word out!

That’s for sure.
There did appear to be a small bounce for bammy, for the reasons I stated above, imho.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2339201/posts - several point bounce in Rassmussen.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/113980/Gallup-Daily-Obama-Job-Approval.aspx - only a couple point bounce here
A lot of conservatives were attending protests over this weekend but I don’t think that explains Hussein’s bounce at all. I’m afraid too many people buy into his lies and distortions.
After all the conmen, liars, and frauds this country has seen over the last few years, we must still be largely a nation of suckers to give Hussein 50% approval on anything.
And Rasmussen says his overall approval is 52%.
The more the Kenyan gets his mug on TV lying about how he won’t pull the plug on grandma, the more his polls drop.
By November 2010, his presidency is going to be on life support and America will definitely pull the plug on tyhis experiment with liberal guilt.
His Sep 9 speech should restart the slide.
