“Any Freepers get a more accurate count than the media (”tens-of thousands”)?”
WAY more than that. It was a mass of people from the Capitol steps all the way down Pennsylvania Ave. The photos I’ve seen rival those of the inauguration, at which estimates were put at 2 million. An estimate of 1.2 to 1.5 million would be a conservative one, IMHO.
I was there with Mrs. exit82.
Having been at a few large rallies in DC, my estimate was about 700,000 for the size of the crowd.
It was hard to guess because the area in front of the Capitol has a lot of trees plus a large reflecting pond that split up the crowd. If we had the Mall(there was a simultaneous Black Family Reunion event going on about seven blocks west so we could not)the crowd could have stayed together and more easily counted.
It was exhilarating. I wish all the Freepers could have been there—you would have felt right at home with these great people.
Hey P73,
I stood at the Grant statue for most of the duration of the rally.
The estimates of 1.1 to 2 million are an extreme exaggeration.
When a football stadium fills to 80,000 people, that’s huge.
To say that there were at least “15” stadiums of 80,000 participants for the “lower estimation” is a bit of a stretch.
Flame away. I’ll stick to my “guess-timate” of 250,000 to 400,000 people.
AND THAT’S A HUGE GROUP OF PEOPLE!!!
