During a visit to Ukraine, the singer said he and his partner David Furnish were keen to become parents to a 14-month-old they had met there.
"David and I have always talked about adoption," he said. But as Mr Furnish held baby Lev on his knee, Sir Elton revealed he had changed his mind.
"Having seen Lev today, I would love to adopt him. I don't know how we do that but he has stolen my heart. The singer said the death of his long-term keyboardist, Guy Babylon, had also helped change his mind about children.
"It broke my heart because he was such a genius and so young and has two wonderful children," he said.
"What better opportunity to replace someone I lost than to replace him with someone I can give a future to."

This poor baby... Run, Lev, Run! It's a trap!!
Elton John is, like, SO over!
SIR Elton John indeed!
What is the proper title for a young man raised by two queens? “Princess?”
Just what I always wanted, a 63 year old fruitcake for a “Dad”
Western culture is committing suicide in installments.
Obviously a fake kiss for the camera.
Isn’t he kind of old be be starting out being a father?
That’s not really fair to the child.

Obama Says A Baby Is A Punishment
Obama: If they make a mistake, I dont want them punished with a baby.
I feel for that poor kid

John's falling in love with the child while gazing on him would fit with theories of homosexuality being related to self-love.
Nothing about this situation is fair to the child.
He’ll inherit a ton of money someday
...that he’ll spend on therapy.
Aren’t they past the age limit for infant adoption?!!
I don’t know of any foreign country that would allow a single (gay) man over the age of 60 to adopt a child of any age, let alone a baby.
I have adopted three children from orphanages. They are not fashion accessories, nor do they replace something or someone you miss.
These children arrive already having experience great losses. They need stability and consistency of care, and love from parents This child will be shuffled about while “daddies” pursue their selfish pursuits of tours, expensive parties, etc. What is the difference between leaving this boy in an orphanage and having him raised by a series of nannies? His only advantage will be that he inherits a lot of money (which is no advantage at all). And then when he is still a boy, his daddy will die, adding to the losses. Of course, not having a mother is the greatest of losses.
When does the best interest of the child matter with these celebrities?
If you are missing a dead friend, get a dog (or another friend). Leave the children alone.
Man, I’m steamed.
