Have not heard anything new for last couple of days. Hope to hear an update tonight. One think, Ohio Gov Ted Strickland (D) has called for her return to Ohio. I think much of the issue now centers around the mosque in Columbus her parents belong to. So several years, it has been identified as one of the hotbeds for training, recruiting and planning. All denied by cair of course.

Kinda odd question. If something had happened to Rifqa, I think we would have heard. If you sincerely are concerned about Rifqa, just google her first name and you’ll find much info that will bring you up to date.

Just Hoping Florida does the right thing. I am wondering why she hasn't filed for an Emancipation of a Minor?

Not sure if this matters, but she and her family are not US citizens. Not sure if that option is open to her - I’ve thought about the same thing. BTW, she just turned 17 a couple of weeks ago.

Bump...
Did anyone catch it?
To: bahblahbah
I did. Jamal was on from 8:00 to 9:00 minus news and commercial breaks. He was very good in his calm description of his relationship with Rifqa.
He explained about how Rifqa listened online to a sermon he had recently delivered at a Church planted by his parent Church (New Life - Gahanna). This was likely New Life - OSU which he helped start 3-4 years ago.
She found him thru facebook and explained how she had accepted Christ a couple of years ago and was drawn by his story. He too grew up in a muslin home but became a Christian when he was in high school. She wanted to get advice from him regarding that scenario.
Interesting sidenote - When asked how his father reacted when he accepted Christ, Jamal chuckled and replied, "Well, my dad is now a Christian too" - which I did not know. That was a very pleasant surprise.
He talked about the "honor killings" that are performed around the world - about 5000 per year and how this is a real threat and in this case largely brought on by pressure from the mosque located here in Columbus.
The host seemed to be pressing on one point - that being Florida's role in this issue. He felt it was wrong for their involvement. Jamal had a great response to that. The fact that Ohio has done no basic investigation and claims there is no substantiation for her claim but has made no formal legal filing regarding the issue. Her parents' lawyer asked the Fl court to communicate with Ohio and the judge said, "I'd love to, but so far, no Ohio entity has yet filed any paperwork in Fl that would require a response." In other words, Ohio has no one to blame but themselves.
He also explained that Rifqa loves her parents and always asks others to pray for them and for them to understand. The host mentioned that an attempt had been made to get her parents to speak on his show - at a different time, but they never received any response.
That's pretty much what I remember. A sweet Young lady that only wants to openly recognize her Savior without the cloud of death hanging over her. Hope that helps.

Why is that so odd - I don’t get to hear the news and keep up on things every day. So, I thought I’d ask - since the Freepers know all. :-)

If that’s the case, then I apologize. Sometimes it hard to detect sarcasm vs serious tone with text only.
Rifqa is till doing quite well, though the media seems to for the most side with her parents and the muslim leaders in Columbus.
