China buying up North American oil (ALERT! Environmental destruction in U.S.)
WND ^ | September 11, 2009 | JOSEPH FARAH

Posted on 09/13/2009 9:54:53 AM PDT by yoe

The Chinese – and soon Middle East interests – are preparing to buy up oil resources in North America even as "green" interests threaten to short-circuit U.S. access to the same energy, according to a report from Joseph Farah......"

While the U.S. State Department has issued a permit for a multibillion-dollar pipeline to carry crude oil from Canada's tar sands to U.S. refineries, environmental groups are threatening to impede its construction. Some are trying to delay the project for years by putting it in the middle of the court system.

Meanwhile, the Chinese are in the process of spending billions of dollars to develop the resource and possibly deny the U.S. a secure strategic source of oil.

Environmentalists are upset over the approval of the pipeline, saying the Obama administration has reneged on its commitment to reduce pollution emissions by endorsing what the "green" interests described as the "environmental catastrophe" of tar sands.

The proposed 1,000-mile crude oil pipeline would run between Hardisty, Alberta, Canada, and Superior, Wis.

While the environmental battle rages in the U.S., the Chinese, and soon the United Arab Emirates, will be spending billions of dollars to lay claim to the Canadian tar sands themselves.

The Chinese are investing in lands that contain the valuable resource, thereby controlling access to it.

The resource is in Canada's Alberta province. In the United States, similar tar sands are concentrated primarily in eastern Utah, mostly on public lands. Tar sands in Utah are estimated to hold from 12 to 19 billion barrels.

The Chinese, who are scouring the world for available oil to meet the demands of their burgeoning population, have made an initial $2 billion investment in a 5-billion barrel reserve of what the U.S. refers to as "dirty oil."

Vladimir Lenin always believed that the one who controls the language controls the debate. In today's scene we have a word that no one really understands the meaning of. That word is environmentalist. Just what constitutes an environmentalist? How do you become an environmentalist? Do you assume the title by shear assertion?

No the environmentalist movement was taken over by leftists a long time ago. The radical lawyers are much smarter than the so called tree hugger. I know some of these scum bags. They live in big houses. They drive fancy cars (almost exclusively foreign). They don't conserve on anything. Many have second (or even third) homes at the shore or the mountains. They make a fantastic living suing everyone in sight and then their friends in the legislatures have made it so they can collect legal fees. Check it out. Don't believe me. Someone needs the write the definitive book on how this scam works.

No we have the realize these so called environmentalists want to de-industrialize the U.S. They have been successful to a degree. This is one of the least talked about subjects in the news. It has to move to the front page. Our economy and way of life depend on this.

This doesn't mean we believe anyone can put pollution out into our environment. This doesn't mean we destroy our forests and streams. In fact the so called environmentalists have destroyed many forest by burning them down.

Somehow we need a reasoned environmental movement. This is a huge task.

So? We don’t need it. We don’t have any refineries anyway, and no manufacturing capacity to consume it.

“All part of zero’s plan to bankrupt the nation.”

I don’t doubt you’d love to believe this is part of Obama’s “plan to bankrupt the nation”, rg, but unless he plans to bankrupt us by allowing the Canadians to sell their oil sands to whomsoever they please, you’ve got it wrong. You really ought to read complete articles, even from World Nut Daily, before you comment.

“The Chinese are investing in lands that contain the valuable resource, thereby controlling access to it.

The resource is in Canada’s Alberta province.”

“American energy reserves should Never be sold especially to the enemy.”

Are the Canadians allowed to sell theirs, or is it our call to tell them what to do with their oil?

you live by the sword-you die by the sword,What swords we been using? Money, oil and heavy industry-have made us great! Cheap energy to produce goods is our Achilles heel as well as our blessing, its ironic we are just giving everything that made us great to a commie nation,or just stopping it to save the world!!!!,of course when I say we I mean the enviro-wacko’s/commie/anti-American rulers we have. What is happening is treason, our government is waging war on-US.We need to step up to the plate,if the government wants to do something good,it should be solidifying every energy source and grabbing reserves of natural resources for us. I am not a good poster,Iam not as smart as a lot here, but believe me,cheap energy and reserves of natural resources are a national security matter-a matter of survival, our government is pulling the rug out from under us intentionally-TREASON!!!!

"The Communists buying up the oil, the Birch society have warned about that for years."

The oil company the Chinese bought is just a drop in the bucket compared to what's operating in the tar sands, which isn't just in Alberta, but stretches right across Northern Saskatchewan into Manitoba as well. And it's also one thing to own a claim, it's quite another to develop it.

Plus just because Chinese own the oil company, doesn't mean it's "their" oil. It will have to be sold on the world markets just like everyone else does. Any Natural gas wells they drill are useless to the Chinese as well, they'll have to tie into the natural gas pipelines that supply north America. There is no LNG processing there at all, and no shipping ports to move it overseas.

Those are Canadian reserves, and they aren't "sold" to the Chinese, the Chinese just bought out an oil company and it's leases.

That may be China's trump card. If the US reneges on paying all the Treasury notes China bought, they can import our oil at a dirt cheap price as payment. ObamaCare Jokes Obama Jokes

“Uhh.. sorry but if you don’t believe that by not allowing US companies to drill where they need to harms the economy “you” better read entire articles before you post!”

But rod, that’s not what the article says. In fact, the only mention of the Obama administration is that the State Department has issued a permit to build an international pipeline.

Not allowing U.S. oil companies to drill where they need has been American policy since the Nixon Administration. Is there something more dramatic going on now than previously, something that isn’t anywhere in this article?
