Wilson: No second apology for You lie words Democratic leaders are demanding he apologize on the House floor
WASHINGTON - One apology is enough, a digging-in-his heels Rep. Joe Wilson said Sunday, challenging Democratic leaders who want him to say on the House floor that he's sorry for yelling "You lie!" during President Barack Obama's health care speech to Congress.
The leadership plans to propose a resolution of disapproval this week if the South Carolina Republican doesn't publicly apologize to Congress. Such a measure would put lawmakers on the record as condemning those two words, uttered during last Wednesday's prime-time speech, that have become a fundraising boon for the defiant Wilson and his Democratic challenger.
Wilson said a resolution would show that Democrats simply wanted to play politics and divert attention from a health care overhaul that is lagging in Congress.
"I am not going to apologize again. I apologized to the president on Wednesday night. I was advised then that, 'Thank you, now let's get on to a civil discussion of the issues,'" Wilson said. "I've apologized one time. The apology was accepted by the president, by the vice president, who I know. I am not apologizing again."
Wilson spoke with White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel after the outburst that drew immediate rebuke from lawmakers, including some fellow Republicans.

And great admiration from countless true conservatives.
Congressman Wilson should also read the LIES of Harry Reid, when Reid called W. a “Liar” and a “Loser”.
Congressman Wilson should also remind the House of its members who are currently under legal clouds, most of whom are Democrats, NONE OF WHOM HAVE APOLOGIZED for anything!
Just a thought for rep Wilson, Screw the dims, you were correct.
I’d never heard of Joe Wilson before this incident. Now he’s my favorite conservative politician.
After the financial analysis — he knows that not apologizing is good for business, uhh I mean his campaign coffers.
I hope that the RNC is taking note. Whenever they call me, I’m going to demand more Joe and less Snowe.
I still wonder why a man should apologize for speaking the ONLY 2 HONEST WORDS that were spoken Wednesday Evening. As for the REPUKES calling for ANOTHER Apology.. Joe may then go to the floor of the house and apologize to the AMERICAN PEOPLE for RANGEL LYING on disclosure forms.. Geitner’s TAX Problems, Rangels TAX Problems,, FRANK and DODD for their DESTRUCTION of the Real estate Market... etc etc etc.
If Obama had any class, he would restate that he accepted Wilson’s (ill-advised, IMHO) apology, declare the controversy over and then promptly call off Pelosi and her goons who plan to punish Wilson on the floor of Congress.
But that’s not going to happen.
RATS are looking for a film clip they can use in campaign commercials against him next year. Good for Joe that he didnt take the bait.
Wilson should say she’s sorry to be a part of a legislative body where a tax cheat chairs the committee writing tax laws...
Or it's not like he got caught with cold cash in his greezer.
Or it's not like he got caught cheating on his income taxes while he is charge of the Ways and Means Committee.
The best thing for this would be a special prosecutor who would investigate whether or not Barack Obama actually lied, or was telling the truth.
I do not understand why Rep. Wilson apologized to the Kenyan Pretender, in the first place.
IMHO there should have never been a first apology.
Buck it up, and stop acting like weenies, Republicans.
Good for Joe Wilson. Good manners says you only to apologize once for the same thing.
So let the Dems in Congress reprimand him. It will only mean yet another backlash for Joe Wilson and much more money coming into his campaign committee!
Keep in mind that Wilson only apologized for breaking the “decorum of Congress,” whatever the heck that means. We all know that Congress has all the prestige of Cook County jail, but Wilson’s apology was good in that the media can’t portray him as a right-wing kook, and his refusal to apologize more kept the grassroots happy. I think from this point forward, Republicans need to learn from George Allen and realize that apologizing to the Left won’t get you nowhere.
This is exactly why I said the other day of Joe Wilson that he's got the class to apologize and the stones to stand strong. Where are the other Republicans, and in particular, those who puddled the floor about what Wilson said, in criticizing this sham resolution and calling out the RATS on their plans to take over healthcare? No doubt hiding under their desks as usual.
Double dittos!
This incident of honesty and bravery puts him in the national spotlight. Finally, a congressional who might just be speaking for the rest of us!
He shouldn't have, but the apology was for being disruptive and not for attacking the Obamacare that illegals would get.
