(Sen. Susan) Collins does not support public option 'trigger'
The Hill ^ | 09/13/09 | Tony Romm

A key swing vote on healthcare reform said Sunday she would not support a public option "trigger" -- a series of benchmarks that, if not met by a certain time, would authorize the creation of a government insurance program.

Something is fishy ....

"Collins' remark on Sunday could spell trouble for the White House, which has reportedly worked quite closely with another key swing vote -- Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) -- on that very issue."

One alternative under serious consideration, strongly promoted by Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, would hold the public plan in reserve, triggering it only if affordable insurance isn’t made available to most Americans by the time the legislation is fully implemented in 2013.

She know gosh darn well everyone of the 1.2 million in DC will send anyone right of her in primaries or a Liberatarian 10 bucks a head if she does go for the “trigger” option. Liberal she may be, stupid an arrogant, maybe not....

“(Sen. Susan) Collins does not support public option ‘trigger’”

LOL! Old Susan must have gotten some calls from constituents
(including seniors that can figure out ObamaCare)...
and/or
Susan watched some film coverage of the D.C. 9-12 March
in D.C. at the urging of one of her aides.

Looks like she has gotten the message. The status quo, the Washington Business as usual is over and many of those in Washington still do not get it but they will or they will be defeated.

I’m not thrilled with RINO Collins, but at least she’s a good Blue Dog Democrat. That’s a whole lot better than having a socialist like Pelosi or a communist like obama.

Collins is a political whore. She is announcing that her price has not yet been met.

That’s pretty much all this is, negotiating.

Tomorrow call or Fax Ms. Collins and tell her this H.R.3200 is fraught with old verbiage and new special interest, ACORN included in the new form. It is a disaster. Shred It! Republicans do have some very good ideas for reform and they are simple not an entitlement to make politicians wealthy as is this Obama plan.

BS, she is an untrustworthy conservative vote and needs to be retired ASAP. She is just biding her time until she can backstab the conservatives again. What these New England political whores desire is relevance and they only get it by being courted as "swing votes."

Collins got re-elected in 2008, and I think the reason she does not support the trigger is because of the rampant fraud that’s been uncovered in some of the “stimulus” funds, the bill she, Snowe and Specter supported. Collins is very angry and upset over where certain appropriations in the “stimulus” were sent and what they were used for. In short, the dems and the WH burned her once and she’s not going to trust them, or bail them out, again.

Collins says she wants investigations into stimulus spending fraud but in the same breath she thinks that the money should be spent quickly. Seems like they should route out the fraud before allocating any additional money. Or better yet, send the unspent money back to the Treasury.

I won’t hold my breath waiting for Snowe or Collins to demand withdrawal of all funding from ACORN and its various entities. And that would be an easy one.
