California's gasoline taxes are 43 percent higher than the national average, according to a recent study by University of California and California State University economists. Since 1997, Californians have paid up to 60 cents more per gallon of gas than residents of other states. That is simply unacceptable. Major fuel consumers and employers in this state, like United Airlines, who rely heavily on affordable fuel prices, are being hit hard by these California-only fuel polices.
What causes this disparity in fuel prices? It's simple: California prices are increasingly inflated by the state's policies, taxes and fees. These California-specific rules and regulations ignore the ripple effect on fuel prices and availability for businesses and consumers alike, especially during these economically challenging times.
The cost of petroleum here including the thousands of pounds of jet fuel that keep my company's airplanes flying is well above the national average. A recent media report noted that average fuel prices in three California cities Bakersfield, San Francisco and Santa Barbara are higher than Honolulu, where every drop of fuel must come by ship, with shipping costs passed on directly to consumers. In Sacramento, fuel prices recently rose more than 18 cents per gallon in a single week, drastically outpacing the national average.
As California fuel prices continue to soar, the new UC/CSU study details the disastrous effects this unchecked upward momentum could have on large and small industries and companies that do business here.

And then when we have stupendous fires that burn 100+ square miles of National Forest and coat the entire southland in ash it is just fine. Accidents happen, you know.”
IF the Feds would get serious about the illegals, there would NOT be large cartel grows of marijuana in the national forests thruout the West.
The fire by Santa Barbara was started by a campfire used by these growers.
The enviros tell us that we must cancel all romantic candle light dinners because of global warming, but they also do nothing to support ridding this country of the illegal drugs and the growers.
I am talking about as many as 10,000 plants at any one site, with street value of $2000 per plant. You do the math!
Another reason to not live in California. Beautiful place but not habitable.
Most of last year diesil cost more than regular gas.
Most of the local delivery vehicles use gasoline and they are paying more now than at the first of the year.
What we have noticed is the price of bread per loaf if it isn’t on sale, the Orowheat/other top quality breads are close to $5/loaf if not on sale. My wife and I don’t eat that much bread, but friends and younger relatives with hungry kids at home get hammered with these increases. I wasn’t aware of these increases intil the Labor Day vacation. Our Dil and 2 ever hungry grandkids spent the weekend with us, and I bought a loaf of the Orawheat white sandwich bread and paid the $4.95 per loaf. Our DIl said that was just the tip of the iceberg re her buys. So she is back to Costco at least once a week.
i don’t know about planes but a 18 wheeler still has to pay the tax on fuel he would have burned.
LOL
WHatta bunch of whiners
Gas in Anchorage is 3.25/gal at the cheepie stations, 3.50 to 3.75 at chain stations.
Add about 0.25 if you go out of town.

Ever notice how almost ALL environ-wacko support higher taxes and restriction of guns, hunting, having large families etc? It certain that they want everyone else to stop having fun and to pay higher taxes and to stop having fun!
Our gas in Alaska is higher than kalifornia.
Around $1.21 and up a gallon.
OCTANE 87 is $3.45 on the street and $3.22 at Costco in Eureka Ca
I believe that it is because the California refineries have a monopoly. All gasoline sold in California must be refined in California. Also, there are I believe, 6 refineries throughout the state. Always one or two of them are offline for maintenance or because of a fire, etc. The exotic blends that we must have because of the evrionazis drive up the price. One such additive was polluting the lakes. Of course it costs to add the ingredient during the processing stage as well as costing money just not to put it in.
Last time I bought at Sam’s Club in Roseville, about maybe Monday, it was $2.97.9. But I’ll bet it’s higher now!!!
I waiting for some troll to challenge us about Californicating’s Sales Tax on gasoline isn’t based on the total cost to the dealer including Californicating and Federal Road tax $’s.
