While Charles Rangel lived across the street in luxury Harlem digs, his tenants coped with collapsing ceilings, sinking floors and roaches. In just one apartment in the six-unit building on West 132nd Street, city inspectors found nine violations in 2003. Rangel and his wife, Alma -- the landlords -- were ordered to repair the wood floor in the entire apartment, plaster, paint, fix broken bathroom tiles and faulty window frames, and get rid of roaches and mice. The city also found that the Rangels failed to file the building's annual occupancy statement five times between 1982 and 1996.

Sad. And Rangel says that brownstone, “was his grandfather’s most prized possession.” You’d think he’d maintain it out of respect for his grandfather’s legacy.
If we can get the message to blacks, that these Dems are NOT helping them..but that’s hard when they throw them bones now and then, and buy them off with measly welfare benefits..of course setting them up to have kids just to get the checks.
Its hard to turn around generations of mind control..just look at the liberal Amercian Jews.
While we hear from white elitist politicians and so called journalists who cry racist when anyone crosses the administration, we now see Charlie Rangle who they all will overlook while he abuses his own kind. This is systemic when it comes to the black causus, NAACP, congress and senate of so called black leaders. Racism only works when it is directed toward the right, but it seems like it is slowly falling on deaf ears and we’re sick of it! The African American community is being held down by the very people they support.
I am sure nothing will come of this. He and his wife will slip slide out of all of it. After all he is Democrat that has been in Congress a long, long time so he is entitled.
Al Gore was a slumlord, too. There’s a pattern here.

I lived in a small Southern city for a while when they finally decided to enforce the housing code in the part of town that was traditionally the black area. They had attempted to do this before, but one of the big problems was that many of the slumlords were black themselves. Needless to say, when the city tried again to enforce it, the black politicians (some of whom were the slumlords or related to the slumlords) announced that they were being targeted because of their race and the white man was out to get them. The white slumlords of course were also being forced to repair their properties, but that didn’t matter.
Finally when some of the properties were determined to be beyond repair, the black slumlords demanded that the city bear the cost of tearing them down. They didn’t win on this one; this city did demolish them, but billed their owners. I don’t know if they ever paid, though.
