Glenn Beck = MSM (Left explaining away their defeats)
The Atlantic ^ | September 12, 2009 | Justin Miller

Posted on 09/12/2009 11:13:44 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Glenn Beck's recent successes in getting Van Jones to leave the White House, a member of the National Endowment for the Arts reassigned, and pushing ACORN out of next year's census are more examples that the "right-wing noise machine" is no more. It is now part and parcel of the mainstream media.

The convergence between alternative, conservative media and the "mainstream" media has been happening for years. I made the case before that the conservative media can force the press, which is a part of the MSM, to cover stories it may not otherwise give attention. One reader asked for such an example and now he has multiple ones with with the NEA, ACORN, and most prominently, Jones. Right-wing media not only put a target on Jones's back, but made it so large that the White House couldn't divert attention from it -- especially the press' attention, which finished him.

Beck was performing the basic mission of a reporter when he dug up parts of Jones's past because he brought undisclosed facts into the public record. To be sure he was not fair, objective, or disinterested in the outcome of that reporting, but it was reporting nonetheless.

"The reporting we saw on TV and on the Internet...was the work not of journalists, but of political hit men," wrote The Atlantic's Mark Bowden in the October issue about the very subject of people like Beck or the anti-ACORN activist acting like (and even replacing) journalists. They have "some of the skills and instincts of a reporter but not the motivation or ethics," Bowden said.(continued)

He says that like it's a bad thing.

How condesending can you get? Yes, only those so-called "journalists" ordained by the old media are really professional and ethical ... Hahahaha!

Let’s ask Dan Rather what he thinks about the new media.

What really gets me is when the left refers to the media as the M$M, thereby implying that they are somehow evil because they do what they do for money.

Enough already with these out of touch fossils. There time has come and gone. I listened to Tom whatever his name is waxing about the good old days when he and his fellow news readers were king. I am a geezer myself so no slam on age , but if you are going to stay in the past and whine about new media , you are making a fool of your self. Catch up or shut up .

Matt Drudge makes more money reporting news than ABC, CBS, and NBC combined. (The news divisions of the major networks lose money).

They won't admit they are totally full of it even if they were drug behind a truck through broken glass. (which is what is happening)

They are insane. And the insane will destroy you if you even remotely rely on them.

Erect an all new communication entity from scratch. Commit to the truth. Ignore the dinosaur MSM. No matter what they do, don't expect any approval, conciliation, or truce with them. LET THEM ROT IN THEIR OWN FRAUD.

How do you describe someone who will refuse to report a story that makes his hero look bad?

Conservatives have to be creative to get the news media to do their jobs. When the Swift Boat Vets held their first news conference at the National Press Club in D.C. it was boycotted by everyone except C-Span and UPI. They had to write and publish a book and the book had to become a national bestseller before a corrupt news media would even acknowledge their existence.

I’ll agree that Glenn Beck is not “disinterested” in the stories he reports on, but I don’t think anyone can objectively say he is not fair. It is possible to be fair without being disinterested. You can’t call him unfair for playing videos of Van Jones and quoting him in full context. In fact, Beck does not pretend to be a disinterested or objective reporter, which makes him more honest and fair than so many “liberal” reporters who pretend to be objective but obviously are not.

Did you note the parts where the author made clear his belief that it is not only the right but the practice of the MSM and tne White House to *bury* news stories they don’t like?

And it is really getting their brown noses out of joint, that their power phrase: “It’s not *news*, until we decide to print it!”, no longer, holds true, but their refusal to cover stories that they know about, just makes it blatently clear to the American Public, tjhat they are untrustworthy and have a corrupt agenda, but that their news they do eventually cover, is days if not weeks or months late, and millions of dollars short!

Thank God. Beck want to get at the truth, while reporters motive is to protect and promote leftwing policies. Again, thank God that Beck has a higher ethical standard than reporters.

After reading this article, the only logical conclusion one can draw is that the MSM, of which The Atlantic has been part since before The Civil War, is absolutely clueless.

Jones. Right-wing media not only put a target on Jones’s back, but made it so large that the White House couldn’t divert attention from it

The question this reporter should be asking himself is,
Why was the White house trying to divert attention away
from Jones communism in the first place?

What would Bowden say about how the media descended en masse on Alaska and then crawled up Palin’s butt with a microscope looking for scandals?

Ah, the ethics of reporters......let's look at some examples:

Kennedy's affairs in the White House - unreported

The Lewinski story - sitting on it until Drudge broke it

Bill Clinton's medical history - no interest

Dan Rather's Air National Guard story - no vetting except by FR

John Kerry's military record - no interest

These are the "ethics" reporters have demonstrated in the past.
