The latest dust-up over President Barack Obama's health care-for-all mission — Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., angrily calling Obama a liar during a nationally televised speech — underscored conservatives' fears that illegal immigrants would benefit from efforts to expand coverage.
Obama insisted that the legislation would not give government subsidies to the nation's millions of undocumented residents. But if immigrant-rich California is any indication, considerable numbers of undocumented immigrants participate in taxpayer-supported health plans.
Although most federal benefit programs bar those who cannot prove their citizenship, California has been more generous than other states. Its taxpayers contribute more than $1 billion annually to cover the health care costs of illegal residents.
The state Department of Health Care Services estimates 768,400 undocumented immigrants will receive coverage this fiscal year through Medi-Cal, the health program funded by state and federal tax money. The cost: $1.2 billion.

Amen, AuntB! As far back as the Clinton years, I remember Californians on this site sounding the alarm. Freepers in other states responded by gloating and saying, "Those California fruits and nuts deserve it. It will never happen in MY state! We're conservative HERE. We have guns HERE!" Now, some of those states are well on their way to being as badly invaded as California. We're all Americans, and every state, no matter how many "fruits and nuts" it contains, also has good, conservative Americans in it...Americans who do not deserve to have their neighborhoods destroyed, their schools ruined, their emergency rooms shut down, their roads full of drunk drivers, their women raped, their identities stolen, etc., etc., etc.
Good. I hope he stands firm on this. He has NOTHING to apologize for. The longer he publicly stands his ground the more the light is shined on Obama and the shamnesty crowd.
Yes, the number has been estimated, probably correctly, at 10 billion not 1.
My State does not have the most LIBERAL Court of Appeals in the country and all the wacked-out liberals CA has had for years and that is why they’re in the mess they’re in. I have relatives in CA and it’s a shame that good, decent people have to suffer as well.

Not to forget to mention, the kid has benefits until they are 18 years old. If they have another couple of kids, more benefits. We are insane.
