TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras Honduras' de facto president said Saturday that the United States has revoked his visas to pressure the Central American country to reinstate ousted leader Manuel Zelaya, exiled in a June 28 coup. Roberto Micheletti said losing his diplomatic and tourist visas would not weaken his resolve against Zelaya's return. Honduran interim Information Minister Rene Zepeda told The Associated Press that the government expects the U.S. to revoke the visas of at least 1,000 more public officials "in the coming days." Last week the U.S. cut off millions of dollars in aid to the Honduran government in response to Micheletti's refusal to accept a mediated accord that would return Zelaya to power with limited authority until elections set for November. "This is a sign of the pressure that the United States is exerting on our country," Micheletti said Saturday on Radio station HRN. He said the move "changes nothing because I am not willing to take back what has happened in Honduras." There was no immediate reaction from Zelaya, who is currently in Nicaragua. The San Jose accord was brokered by Costa Rican President Oscar Arias, who won the 1987 Nobel Peace Prize for his role in helping end Central America's civil wars. Washington recently revoked the U.S. visas of some of Micheletti's Honduran allies and supporters. The U.S. also has stopped issuing most visas at its embassy in Tegucigalpa.
"I'm OK because I expected the decision and I accept it with dignity ... and without the least bit of resentment or anger at the United States because it is that country's right," he said. However, Micheletti complained that the letter he received from the State Department addressed him as president of Congress, his position prior to Zelaya's ouster, and not president of Honduras.

Question of the Day: Who is more evil, Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton, Secretary of State , in trying to turn this small independent country into a Chavez-Castro satellite?
also don’t forget Barry might have had something to do with the closure of the Honduras consulate in the l.a. area. :-(
funny how it works, other dictators are welcomed but not a temporary constitutional leader from hondarus
If you ever see Obama and Hugo Chavez together in a photograph, you will always see Obama beaming, with a big grin on his face. He really admires Chavez . . will use him as a role model if he is able to.
Why would you want to come to a Fascist Amerika? They did you a favor. Get a visa to a democratic state like Iraq.
...lot easier in implement 'Change', don't ya know.
Is this really how Hillary wants to be remembered, 'Over-throwing a legitimate democratic government for a tin-horn Hugo Chavez communist marxist clone?'
Comrades in Arms.
If he an get to Springfield he can “hide among the fish in the sea” ~ no one will notice. We got everybody here visa or not.
Elections are coming up in a few weeks. The whole problem resolves itself constitutionally, “como Dios manda”.
No need for any outsiders to get involved. Its their country, their constitution, and they’ve acquitted themselves well. Not one friend in the world and they stand up and do the right thing anyway.

CHORUS OF TERRORIST ENABLERS: "Long live tyrants. Death to all Constitutions and America."
Okay somebody should go ahead and say it...
It would probably be easier for the Hondurans to go ahead and kill the ousted upstart tyrant (and his Vice President). Probably the only way this goes away....cuz liberals never quit.
Good old style Yankee Imperialism. Brings back memories of good old Woody Wilson & his support of Latin American dictators.
Obama said he didn’t want to “meddle” in Iran’s stolen election. But being a bully to Honduras is quite alright.
How did the Democrat Party become so damn liberal? FDR was also an extremist liberal, btw. He tried to turn the United States up side down. Fortunately, Obama is no FDR in terms of popularity.
Now there’s a dignified leader.
So what is the problem? (sarc)
"...Honduras' de facto president said Saturday..."
Dearest AP,
We know colleges don't waste time trying to teach Latin to journalism majors, but even you should know that the correct term would have been de jure, not de facto. After all, Micheletti was made interim president according to the letter of the Honduran constitution, not by force or by intrigue.
The next time you want to sound clever by using Latin verbiage, google it first to make sure you're using it right. Otherwise people might assume you're not so smart.
Best Regards,
Would have been cool to have seen some pro Honduran signs at the march today. I’ll bet 99% of those marching were friends of Honduras and its current constitutional government.
It is high time that President Obama put Honduras under the protective custody of Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez.
Only then will Honduras get the social justice that Obama is trying to win for the American people!
