WASHINGTON -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi didn't budge yesterday on her position that New York Rep. Charles Rangel should remain chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, despite new calls for his ouster.

"I do not think he should step aside," Pelosi told reporters yesterday.

She said that Rangel's fate should be decided by the House Ethics Committee, a secretive panel that has twice expanded its investigation of the embattled chairman but has given no indication when its probe will be completed.

"I do not think tax-cheat Charlie should step aside"

I wonder if San Fran Nan could be legally liable for backing a criminal.

I am going to go out on a limb and state that I believe that Joe Wilson pays his taxes as required by law. Yet, it is he who is being subject to censure and yet, Charles Rangel is allowed to keep his post.

The voters of Rangel's district deserve to be censured.

I have a simple solution to this problem, Mr. Boehner, concerning our favourite House Majority Leader. It applies as thus:

Address the congress and get all the conservative republican party officials together. Draw up a list of grievances the Democrats have done over the past few years they’ve held congress. Address congress with list of grievances and decry the Democratic Party Culture of Corruption, and go as far back as possible and uncover as many things as you can. Just destroy everybody.

“Pelosi angles for Rangel (”I do not think tax-cheat Charlie should step aside”)”

Of course not. There’s a code of ethics among thieves and criminals too.

Rangel is beyond reproach, he's untouchable. Black caucus won't stand for it. His district could care less.

Charlie can eat live kittens and rape little children on CNN and still be re-elected.

Pelousi knows this and just needs to wait long enough for the next huge story to break for this to go ago

"I do not think he should step aside," Pelosi told reporters yesterday.

I think what she is trying to say is that Charlie the Chump hasn't finished building his nest egg yet.

Pelosi is scared to death of the Black Caucus. They support Rangel, and if Pelosi loses them, she is through.

Charles Rangel leases four rent-controlled apartments in Harlem. He uses one of them as an office, a violation of rent-control rules. He also needs to keep his reported income below $175,000 to qualify as a "hardship case".

Rangel the crook also owns a desirable villa in the Domincan Republic. Rent is said to go from $500-$1,100 per night, depending on the season. In 2006 and 2008 he reported no income from the property. In 1990 the developer had converted his mortgage to an interest-free loan. This would seem to be a violation of House gift rules.

He also claimed a "homestead" exemption from taxes on his Washington DC residence. Although this requires that the property be a principal residence, so also does the requirement involved in the aforementioned Harlem residence.

"Last week, we learned that Rangel filed a grossly misleading financial disclosure report for 2007 — failing to report at least half a million dollars in assets.

It turns out Rangel had a credit union account worth at least $250,000 and maybe as much as $500,000 — and didn’t report it. He had investment accounts worth about the same, which he also didn’t report. Ditto for three pieces of property in New Jersey.

Beyond that, we’ve learned that Rangel has failed to report assets totaling more than $1 million on legally required financial disclosure forms going back to at least 2001."

The latest revelation has Rangel contributing to the campaigns of fellow Democrats on the House Ethics committee [as if there was such a thing as House Ethics].

One member of the panel, Peter Welch of Vermont, wisely decided to return his $20,000 gift from Rangel, citing the need for “an abundance of caution.”

But the other two — Ben Chandler of Kentucky and G.K. Butterfield of North Carolina — are holding on to Rangel’s largesse, claiming it in no way interferes with their ability to sit in judgment on their benefactor.

Nothing here move along.............

So you’ve just admitted Nanzi that your “ culture of corruption” schtick was nothing more than a bunch of “you lie.”

TAKE ACTION NOW - NO MORE SITTING ON THE SIDELINES
The thing we have to do now, without any hesitation, is vote out this current Congress in 2010. Then take back our Nation in 2012. If we do not mobilize ourselves and others now to do this in ways far beyond where most of us have ever engaged in political matters, we will lose this country. And have ourselves to blame.
