The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the largest nonprofit business group in the world, is seeking to have the facts of climate change put on trial -- to the delight of some of its members and the chagrin of others.
The chamber petitioned the Environmental Protection Agency seeking proof of the agency's finding that climate change poses a public threat. In papers filed in federal court just two weeks ago, the chamber says "that a proceeding on the record is necessary to narrow the areas of scientific uncertainty, to permit a credible weighing of the scientific evidence, and to enable submitters of proof to demonstrate the falsity of some key erroneous claims."
t's shocking that a business group representing the largest segment of American companies is labeling itself a climate-change denier, especially since the findings from the most well-respected and largest group of scientists, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, proves that climate change is undeniable.
Government leaders around the world also have said on the record that climate change is undeniable, as have business leaders, many of them chamber members.
The trial request is meant to throw cold water on the cap-and-trade legislation currently up for a vote in the U.S. Senate. The chamber came out against such legislation in the House -- the Waxman-Markey bill -- and reportedly has been lobbying hard to douse the Senate version.

Algore write this!?
This statement is nonsense as well as being untrue! Are they the "largest" group of scientists? Of course not! Are the the "most well-respected"? I don't think so! Do their findings "prove" that climate change is undeniable? No, the IPPC did not have to "prove" this, because NOBODY is denying climate change!! Nincompoops! The argument proposed is that any appreciable degree of climate change is caused by human activity. Even the IPCC does not contend that they have "proven" this.
Meaningless article. The above point, despite the bad grammar, is correct. We have had ice ages and warm periods, and will almost certainly have more of them, so climate change happens. However, the claims of Al Gore and the cap-and-trade acolytes go well beyond that -- that it is human-generated CO2 that causes most of the change. That assertion is highly questionable.
lol seems like it but I posted it because the CofC is trying to do something about it.
“...proves that climate change is undeniable...”
What the hell is THAT supposed to mean??
That somewhere in the world the wind will blow, the rain will fall, and the temperature will change?
There is NOTHING that proves MANKIND IS CAUSING GLOBAL WARMING!!!!
It will be interesting to hear the response of the “scientists” when they are asked to prove the accuracy of their models...:^)
