Black Publishers Cry Racism Over Wilson Outburst, Join Boycott of South Carolina
Fox News ^ | September 11, 2009 | Fox News

A group of black newspaper publishers on Friday charged Republican Rep. Joe Wilson with racism for yelling, "You lie," at President Obama during his nationally televised address to a joint session of Congress.

The National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA) has canceled a planned January conference in South Carolina, where Wilson is a representative, and joined an economic boycott of the Palmetto State started 10 years ago by the state NAACP in protest of the confederate flag waving from the Statehouse grounds.

Wilson shouted his accusation Wednesday night in response to Obama saying that his health care reform plan would not cover illegal immigrants. Wilson, who drew sharp criticism from both sides of the political fence for the breach in decorum, immediately apologized to Obama and the president accepted. But House Democrats are pressing Wilson to apologize on the House floor or face disciplinary action.

The latest fallout from Wilson's outburst, however, is the first time race has been injected into the controversy.

"As African-American newspaper publishers we stand in solidarity with the NAACP and fully support the economic boycott of South Carolina," NNPA Chairman Danny J. Bakewell Sr. said. "Rep. Wilson's remarks were racist, disrespectful, and a disingenuous violation -- not only of President Obama -- but to the institution of the presidency and only solidified our position and the importance in not spending black dollars where black people are not respected.

"The continued public and blatant disrespect of President Barack Obama by members of Congress will not be rewarded with our dollars nor will a state that continues to uphold America's shameful past by flying the Confederate flag," he added.

Wilson's office could not be reached for comment Friday.

“To be accused of “racism” is totally meaningless now.”

It is. And just imagine when a real case of racism appears. - no one will believe it.

Are they stupid? If they go stand naked on a nudist beach NO one will notice them!

And that’s what way too many people have been doing to the word “racist” every since obama first used it to try to degrade his opponent.

Now someday when someone really has been harmed NO one will listen thanks to obama and fools like these.

Oh darn, I expect without these folks we’ll just run ourselves to ruin down here, not! We’ve supposedly been boycotted for years from these folks and we’re just plain happy if they do stay away.

More interesting, whereas they had sponsorship packets out in August of 2008 for the 2009 midwinter conference in Las Vegas, for the 2010 midwinter conference in South Carolina there is nothing available on Google. They canceled a conference that probably wasn’t going to happen anyway, after several other minority associations already canceled their annual conferences.

The news story about them canceling it is, of course, real easy to find, but seeking out any evidence of this conference taking place (or even where it was going to be) is turning up nothing on Google.

My guess: No interest in the midwinter conference this year, no interest in sponsors, therefore it wasn’t going to happen, so why not wait and see, someone will do something in South Carolina and you can ‘cancel’ the conference.

Chortle! “Black dollars”? What is that? Funny, the only dollars I know are green ones. Didn't know dollars were racist too. :)

MAJOR GUFFAWS! omigod. These people are such a walking joke. It's too funny to be sad.

Hey Black Publishers! I typing right now with a black-colored font on a white background! Proof positive that I'm "enslaving" a color that's in the minority when there's all those white pixels just EVERYWHERE!! That's obviously racist. Oooh! I just did it again. That use of bold is even more racist! Shame on me! Bad, BAD Blogger!

bwahahahahaha...

p.s. "black dollars" are usually pitiful attempts by dumbasses to buy goods & services with photocopied currency. You're not spending "black dollars"? Fine. Most business DON'T ACCEPT THEM, YOU WHINY TOOLS!

The Black Dollar Scam

And now we come to the reason some 419 scam victims are asked to travel to countries in Africa - or London, Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, New York, and especially Spain - to help retrieve the funds. This is usually the last step in the scam and involves the infamous Black Dollar Exchange Scam. It also means meeting the swindlers face to face - a very dangerous proposition.

In this part of the deal, the victim is shown some of the alleged money. It is then explained that the currency was damaged in storage, or that it stolen money stained by the U.S. Treasury to identify it as currency for recycling, or some such folderol.

The only way to “clean” the currency to make it usable is by applying a special chemical to it. The swindlers have unfortunately run out of the chemical and it is very expensive, however they will provide a demonstration of how well the chemical works, so that the victim is convinced the chemical will work.

The demonstration involves showing the victim real U.S. currency that is black and completely useless, i.e. Black Dollars. The currency is then washed by the swindlers. During the washing process, genuine clean currency is switched for the Black Dollars. Having impressed the victim with the efficiency of the chemical, the swindlers sell him a supply and give him boxes of Black Dollars to wash. Unfortunately, when the victim opens the delivered cartons they are full of newsprint and the swindlers are long gone.

There are several variation to this theme, but they always come down to the same thing - the victim has to shell out more money. A fortunate victim will only end up a bit poorer for this last experience. The unlucky ones are beaten, mugged, robbed, shot and left for dead, or made to disappear. A bankrupt victim is only worth his watch, jewelry, credit cards, and identity papers, the latter being the reason victims are asked to travel to a foreign country.

At a news conference in Washington, Colfax cited "starkly different" treatment by Myrtle Beach of two motorcycle rallies the area hosts each May. In mid-May, the predominately white "Harley-Davidson Dealers Association Week" is welcomed with signs and special deals by the city government and local businesses, Colfax said. But the following week, climaxing with the long Memorial Day weekend, many businesses shut down and special traffic restrictions are imposed for "Black Bike Week".

This is, as usual, irrational. There’s no connection.

But SC is used to being boycotted by blacks (I don’t remember the cause of the most recent boycott a couple of years ago). Of course, it has a large black population, much of which probably makes its living on the tourist industry, but I guess that doesn’t matter. The only thing that really matters to professional racists is the Dem party.

What? You mean this isn’t satire?

I swear, I had the exact same thought when I read the headline and checked to see if it was The Onion or Iowahawk or some other satire site.

I learned a long time ago, you throw that card down at my feet you won’t make the parking lot, let alone the curb in front of your house without a trip to the Emergency Room! The race card has been abused for so long, just the announcement of it has become a conviction…and the only ones using it are the true racists and prevaricators looking for mileage on the matter; as far as I can tell...so King’s elegant legacy has become not about character but who can claim the color of their skin for profit.
