The Democrats started sniping at Bush right away, over his not flying directly back to Washington, DC (apparently he wanted to but the Secret Service wouldn't agree). There was a memorial service a few days later in Washington which all the bigshot politicians attended--I remember that Hillary showed disrespect to Bush on that occasion but don't recall what exactly it was that she did.

True, it was 2 or 3 weeks before it was business as usual for the Bush Derangement Syndrome sufferers in terms of decibels.
