PHOENIX Speed camera photos of the man in the monkey and giraffe masks have generated lots of chuckles. But the cops aren't laughing.
Dave VonTesmar, 47, started getting the $181.50 tickets last year, but it took Arizona state police several months to realize the same driver was repeatedly triggering speed cameras and refusing to pay the fines. By the time they did, more than 50 of the tickets had become invalid because the deadline for prosecution had passed.
VonTesmar, who has now amassed $6,7000 in fines, is fighting each citation by claiming he wasn't behind the wheel.

Hey, if they can pass the driver test.. heck they let kennedys drive to this day.
the giraffe mask seems a bit too much..
Hopefully the wreckless driver will only kill themselves soon rather than other drivers.
The rest of the article is pretty interesting. The DPS apparently actually followed this guy to catch him putting on the mask.

Obviously a racist.
Most of this guy's tickets were 11-15 mph over the limit. The cameras are set to trigger at 11 mph over the limit.
I drive that fast when passing other traffic, especially on a two lane road.
Right in the most lucrative speed zone...it’s never been about safety folks...is always been about the cash.
Needs a sunroof.
‘obviously a racist’ - hahaha, that’s hysterical!
You can't pin this on me copper. I wuz at the watering hole. Ask the hyenas. I ain't got no monkey mask, either. A giraffe can't catch a break in this town.
QUOTE>>>”In Arizona, people who get photo-enforcement tickets in the mail have four options: Agree they were driving and pay the fine, say they weren’t driving and send in their driver’s license photo as proof, request a court date and fight the ticket, or simply ignore the ticket because law enforcement can’t prove they received it. The ticket becomes invalid if a violator who ignores it isn’t served in person within three months.”<<<QUOTE
Okay does this bother anyone else, cops are always saying traffic enforcement is about safety... but this quote tells another story to me.
Some like minded citizens should do the same. He is absolutely correct in saying that photo radar is nothing but a speed tax.

Maybe he can charge DPS with stalking ;-)
