Rep. Joe Wilson, the South Carolina Republican who yelled at President Barack Obama during his address to Congress on Wednesday night, wasn't the only one unhappy with what he heard.
Rep. John Shimkus (R-Ill.) walked out.
"Congressman Shimkus was frustrated that the president was not offering any new ground and left with just minutes remaining in the speech," spokesman Steven Tomaszewski said Thursday in response to a query from the Tribune.

All of the them should have walked out but they lack the stones to do so.
Yes! That should have happened with every Republican there. And don’t apologize, Sir!
indeed, more should have left.
From one fellow Downstater to another, THANK YOU!
He’s a former high school teacher. Wonder how he got the money to be a legislator. Regardless, way to go.
Boy, it sure is nice to see that some FReepers actually have Congress Critters that they can be proud of.
My old rep quit to join the Hil-liar-y brigade over at State. Our choices to replace her is a career California Demo-rat running for his 4th or 5th different position and a Republican that is too elite to debate others in his party.
Of course, we can always fall back on our Senators. Oh, wait, we have the female equivalents of Kennedy and Kerry. Never mind.
Another congressman from Texas made himself a sign that read “WHAT BILL?” and held it against his chest during the entire speech. He was on Cavuto yesterday. He said his point was that 0bambi never came out and said which of the bills he was talking about, he just kept saying “the bill.”
And from Illinois too! That’s shocks me! Hope he wasn’t just leaving to use the little boys room!!!

That’s my congresscritter, Steve LaTourette sitting there smiling like an idiot in the bottom right corner. It better have been a good joke, because he’s going to be getting an earful from me.
Agree with you 100%...republicans in washington are spineless drones...
He wouldn't have had a chance to get in though, had not the Democrat treasurer screwed up by being so ridiculously corrupt even local dems couldn't hide it though many were happy to overlook it. Many more were willing to try the new guy out after their own guy embarassed them. It's been a long time but as I recall the straw that broke the camel's back was when the old treasurer's son landed in jail, his daddy either got him off, or tried to, using his office.
In Madison county Democrats who had jobs in the county seat- indeed, Democrats in any government job- are required to donate to democrat candidates in order to hold their jobs. Everything is patronage. This ensures a Democrat will have a known certain amount of guaranteed money for campaigning or other things.
But Shimkus ran a clean campaign- his opponent was so dirty mudslinging wasn't necessary. John was able to get help from his fellow churchgoers and they turned out in force for him on election day, and did a lot of work on foot meeting people and actually listening to them. I imaging small business people were happy to see him after the old guy fouled the nest so much.
Once in office he computerized it, John ran it very efficiently and won over more and more people because of that tight ship. He eventually ran for higher office, still using the BBQ and tailgate get-togethers, and by that time he'd proven his competence. I think there may have been some redistricting in that time period that helped as well owing to a pubbie-controlled statehouse. Efficiency is good for business interests, and that couldn't hurt on donations. Taxes are also a huge issue in that county- the average Dem voter there is not a harpy like the DU types- and aren't fond of taxes or people that threaten the 2nd ammendment.
Perhaps they’re still trying to “set a new tone “ in Washington. Losers.
Fascinating. Thanks for the info. I’m just impressed that a guy coming from those means managed to get elected. Most who get in are lawyers etc.
Musta been the one he plans to conjure up... like magic!
These guys must believe in Tinkerbell!
Yeah, I’m starting to think they prefer being the minority party. I used to justify my affiliation by telling myself I can vote for the more conservative in the primary, but when the national and state party cuts the conservatives off at the knees because they’d rather run a RINO that goes on to lose the general election...it makes me wonder why I’m not a registered independent.
Too bad he was alone. The GOP (elected wimps) should’ve walked out the first time they and their constituents were called liars by the grumpy young fogey aka BHO.
