WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Coast Guard fired on a suspicious boat in the Potomac River in central Washington, D.C., amid high security while September 11 memorial ceremonies were being held nearby at the Pentagon, CNN reported on Friday.

Looks like Yahoo didn’t get the memo. It’s a “training exercise.”
The Coast Guard just now finished a press conference where they stated it was an exercise.

Apparently CNN overhead the CG radio chatter and heard an order to fire shots which was an exercise command only.
But that didn’t stop CNN from rushing the story onto the internet before checking the facts. What a shock.
Coast guard commander from Kenya must have ordered the exercise to interrupter state run media coverage of the memorial services.. Ya think?
either that or the coast guard is guilty of criminal stupidity.

Great question. I actually don't blame CNN, at all. And, that was reinforced when I saw Gibbs trying to chide CNN for covering it. Why wouldn't they cover it? Nope, this falls right into the lap of the Chief Executive - Barack Hussein Obama.
People need to ask, "Why would the Obama administration do something as harebrained as this?" It's got nothing to do with CNN.
Seems really stupid to me, too. When we trained on the gunboats we did it far away from any civilians. Those 50cals will glance off the water and travel for miles.
My question as well. Either it’s a boneheaded decision by the USCG or there’s something going on they want to cover up. If the latter, I doubt we’ll ever read about it in the MSM.
They do this 4 times a week to protect us...someone panicked therefore the media panicked.
