I have a theory about this clip from Harry Reid describing Barack Obamas speech on Wednesday to the joint session of Congress. Obama must have given two speeches, one publicly, and then a later one in private after all 535 members snuck back into the chamber. The one we saw featured a President who got angry, called his opposition liars, and said he wouldnt listen to anyone who didnt want to overhaul the health-care system along the principles hes already espoused. Harry Reid must be referring to a different speech when he recounts the one that lauded Republican ideas on ObamaCare and offered an olich branch to his opposition (via Greg Hengler):

Ping.
Reid is what Hussein would call a “special olympian”.
The one I heard was more of a “kiss my ass” speech.
Sounds to me like Obama’s pet project is dead in the water...
These obvious differences in events are what leads me to believe this country is toast!
Common Sense was declared dead in 1998. Reason died in 1999. And now Reality’s obituary is being printed as we speak.
The speech was for the base to keep the left united. The spin afterwards is to setup using the nuclear option. All of the leftist pols and media organs are saying the same thing today - ‘Obama extended an olive branch to the Republicans’. They are saying this now so that when they try the jam down in a week or so, they can argue that they tried to work with the Republicans but the Republicans refused to work wit them.
I blurt our liar every time I hear Harry and Nancy. Republicans are obstructionists, we are seeking bipartisan solutions, etc.
They own both houses, put it to a vote......and let American see the real truth - you don’t even have enough Democrat support for this abomination.
As with Porkulus, more Dems will vote against it than Republicans that will vote for it.
What?! Oh, I forgot. Reid is speaking in “Newspeak.”
It’s just a question of what you mean by “olive branch.” We tend to think of a branch that’s maybe a quarter-inch in diameter, really just a twig. Reid means a branch that’s three or four inches in diameter, suitable for bashing someone over the head with.
