Some dufus translates a guy saying "bang, Bang" On on scanner frequency and CNN put's it on the air as "bullets flying, ten shots fired!

Just who you going to investigate?

The river patrol was done with their job for the morning and used the extra time to run a scenario. This is something they do all the time. There is no notice needed of required.

If some radio snoop misunderstands what is happening, who's fault is that?

CNN blew this when they went to air with a false story. Investigate that.

They train daily...and while training the use open channels. If real it would have been encrypted....The airport was reacting just as a precaution to the news broadcast, that picked up the training mission. If (real)security zone was established it would have been coordinated with other agencies....

Answers to questions:
Will back through and ask press for advice so confusion doesn't happen again.
Articulate round instead of firing actual rounds..... Normally notify at the beginning of drill that it was a drill, will check to see that this practice was done...Possible that news agency did not have radio on at beginning of training exercise.
