Rasmussen Daily Presidential Tracking Poll (-5)
RasmussenReports.com ^

Posted on 09/11/2009 7:10:11 AM PDT by Maceman

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 34% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-nine percent (39%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -5. That’s the highest level of Strong Approval and the best Approval Index rating for the President in a month (see trends).

Data for this daily update is collected via nightly telephone surveys and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. As a result, nearly two-thirds of interviews for today's update were completed before the President’s speech to Congress Wednesday night. Sunday morning’s update will be the first based entirely upon interviews conducted following the speech. The President has typically enjoyed a bounce in the polls following his national prime time television appearances.

The President’s speech also provided a modest bounce in support for his health care plans. Polling conducted over the past two nights shows that 46% of voters now support the reform proposed by the President and Congressional Democrats. Opposition is down to 51%. However, it’s a partisan bounce as the increase in support comes entirely from within the President’s own party.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates also available on Twitter and Facebook.

Overall, 49% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. Fifty percent (50%) disapprove. A Month-by-Month Review of the President’s ratings shows that the Presidential Approval Index served as a leading indicator by declining months before the President’s overall job approval ratings fell.

How in the wide world of sports is the commie gaining support?

The opposition was too busy to be answering polls. They are on their way to the 9-12 rally. I would like to be with them in person, but I will be with them in spirit. For those of us who can’t make it, remember to keep your pressure on with the local politicians as well as the national congress critters.

Probably because the MSM spent all day yesterday demonizing Joe Wilson as a ‘heckler’ and demanding sympathy for their dear embattled leader, rather than dissect and dismantle his partisan hack speech of lies.

Strong negatives are stable, his leg-tingling speech just brought a few sheeple back into the fold for a bit, that’s all.

The second chart is really telling (looking at overall approval and disapproval. Remember the context: Ø just gave a major speech in front of a Joint Session of Congress. The last time this was done was after 9/11.

The numbers in the poll are based on a 3-day rolling average, so today's numbers should show the peak "afterglow" from the speech.

The lesson: no bump from his speech.

(btw, sorry for the blue line for the positive numbers: limitation of Google docs)

Speech bump - temporary, but that’s why he continues to give them. It’s his next to last card in his house of cards.... he can only revert back to campaign mode because he CAN’T govern or lead anything but a swooning media campaign.

He’s on 60 minutes Sunday night and then Monday, he does another ‘what a good boy am I’ speech about how far we’ve come from the brink of a year ago. I hope te market dives on Monday but his and Geithner’s buddies at Goldmans will continue to perpetuate this charade for a while longer..

When that doesn’t work, I sure he will play his last card, the race card. Others have been doing it for him for now...but he will eventually do it himself. I’d bet money on it.

And

This is clearly the result of his “speech”. The State Run Media pumped life into his faltering message.

Seeing this, they announced another “speech” again next Monday. They are on a role and the Snake Oil Charmer in Chief is at the controls.

They would make Goebbels proud.

His speech reassured some but once it is dissected, the lies, and gets out, his approvals will fall. I hope this doesn’t weaken our already weak republicans.

Oh will you poll watchers get a grip.

It will go up because it ALWAYS does after a speech. It will sink back down again as the glow wears off.

How in the wide world of sports is the commie gaining support?

He’s surging because of his MSM support. Which makes it crazy to see those ridiculous posts around FR regarding a dying MSM.

I have little doubt the spike in’strongly approve’ is from far left, moonbats, were becoming disenchanted with Obama-Soetoro before he made his strong stand for Socialism the other night.

“partisan bounce”

With the MSM spinning all the economic news as positive, and while the stock market continues on its “dead cat bounce”, one can expect an upward trend in the Presidents approval ratings. It’s only a matter of time before reality replaces perception and the severity of our economic situation becomes apparent. What is happening in the “free press” is an abomination.

In terms of the -5 number, that’s the “Passion Index” that only factors in the Strongly Approves and Strongly Disapproves. Apparently some of the Stronglys in each category have moved to Somewhat Approve and Somewhat Disapprove. But you dont have the total disapprove number changing in a material way.

No big deal here.

Which is precisely why they have another speech lined up for Monday night at PRIME TIME. The SRM drops everything for what ever their messiah wants.
