Dems support for Afghan war waning

WASHINGTON -- Democratic leaders in Congress urged the Obama administration Thursday to quickly produce a plan for winning the war in Afghanistan or risk widespread opposition within the president's own party to a new troop buildup.

Simmering congressional frustration could lead to tighter scrutiny and more limited resources, even if Capitol Hill ultimately does approve sending more U.S. troops to the war-torn nation, aides said.

"I don't think there's a great deal of support for sending more troops to Afghanistan in the country or in the Congress," said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the highest-ranking Democrat to signal that a push for more troops will get a skeptical look.

Democratic Rep. John P. Murtha, chair of the powerful House Appropriations panel that oversees military spending, described himself as "very nervous" about sending more troops to Afghanistan and cited limited funds to do so.

The democrats have become accustomed to freedom at someone else’s expenses. They don’t have a hair on their behind.

Dems don't understand the first thing about national defense. Obambat has no knowledge of anything military.

Dems hated the Iraq war and said again and again that Afghanistan was where we should be focusing our efforts.

They never supported the troops or the mission at all.

The Afghan Front was never more than a political tool for the Liberals.

Their contempt for the Armed Services is endemic to their kind. They only approved of it so they could complain we needed to send all our forces there.

Those 4000 servicemen killed are no more than a political tool for them as well.

THIS CANNOT BE! For 5 years we heard how Iraq was the evil, blood-for-oil BusHalliburtonMcChimpyHitler battle, Cheney’s War to kill all non-WASPs in the world.

And Afghanistan was the “right war”, the one that was morally perfect, to be fought, and to be won because “it’s the right war at the right time against the right enemy”.

The republicans are not in the white house and are not controlling the purse strings. Good try but that one doesn’t float. Obambat has ZERO experience with anything military and it shows. He is president only because he is black and that is not a qualification to be commender in chief.

You may not think he is qualified (I don't either) but he is commander in chief like it or not. The Republicans DO control the purse strings. A coaliton of Republicans and antiwar Democrats could well have the necessary votes to cut off funding. Strange bedfellows you say? Perhaps....but no stranger that the Obama/Palin pro-war coalition. The only question is this: do the Republicans have enough courage to turn against Obama's war?

There is not thinking about it. I know he is not qualified to lead our nations great military force!!!!! The logistics, communications, training, and operational capability of our military constitutes the largest business in the world.
Obambat has never had to make a payroll, make a business plan or make a single decision that led to lethal consequences.
There is not one single item on his resume that indicates in any way that he is qualified for this job. Yes he was elected president and that gives him the position but it does not mean he is knowledgeable enough, or experienced enough to get the job done. The simple fact is that he isn't and all the troops out there know this. Due to the UCMJ they have to keep their mouths shut. They know exactly what he doesn't know and that is everything to do with the military. He is a great public speaker and he is black. That is why he is president. He has no history of management, he has no executive experience, and has no past involvement wit the military at any level. Those are just the true and provable facts.

Again, I agree with you that he is not qualifed. That does change the fact that he is commander in chief.
