"...lifelong work in behalf of the people of Harlem and this country..." As with Ted Kennedy, such proclamations excuse political and financial corruption? What frakin awesome drugs are many, many politicians, whether Repubs or Dems, smoking these days? These are the very same people who would excuse Hitler, Stalin, etc. for murdering millions because they 'worked on behalf of their people' of whatever. Blah. Ludicrous!

Charlie's done alright on behalf of himself, too, as we now learn. I hope all of that thievery and lying and hypocrisy weren't too, uh, taxing...

Quick, New York Freepers. Stage a big “Dump Rangle” rally in front of the Harlem State Office Building at 10 a.m. Saturday. Just make sure to have video running to protect your back!

City College and Congressman tied in scandal

By Michael Wursthorn

Published: Thursday, September 10, 2009

Calls for Congressman Charlie Rangel’s resignation are increasing as more evidence regarding tax evasion is brought to light, and among the wrongdoing, CUNY’s City College is caught in the middle.

City College received a $1.9 million earmark for the Charles B. Rangel Center for Public Service thanks to Rangel’s efforts. He then used congressional letterhead to solicit donations to the center.

Promotional brochures for Rangel’s namesake says that a soon-to-be refurbished building will house the center, “a well furnished office for Charles Rangel” and the “Charles Rangel Library.” The brochure goes on to say that the library will be as important as both the Clinton and Carter libraries.

According to reports, Congressman Charles Campbell of California denounced the move on the House floor.

“You don’t agree with me or see any problem with us, as members, sending taxpayer funds in the creation of things named after ourselves while we’re still here?” Campbell said.

“I would have a problem if you did it, because I don’t think that you’ve been around long enough that having your name on something to inspire a building like this in a school,” responded Rangel.

Well! I think I’ll just drop everything and book a flight. I don’t want to miss the tribute to Charlie. No one fought harder to keep blsck children in substandard schools to be indoctrinated. By the time they leave those inner-city “schools” ( usually before graduation), they are convinced that they can never get ahead because white people won’t let them.

Apparently the incompetents (sometimes referred to as teachers) can convey that message without it being necessary for the kids to read it, since so many of them can’t read.

Charlie has been an ispiration. I’ll never forget when he stood up in front of the world during Katrina and told black people that Republicans wanted to put them back into slavery.

I can’t wait to see him at the ceremony. He will definiely be well dressed and well groomed. He can afford to be, although I suggest that he not wear one of the $2500 suits, but dig back in the closet for one of the $1500 numbers. It just seems prudent to dress down because of all of the un fair crticism leveled at him because he forgot to pay taxes on that $600,000 he recently discovered in one of his accounts.

Now personally I feel certain that he is innocent of any wrong doing. His accusers are obviously white racists who just don’t want to see a black man succeed. I know that’s true because a friend said that Charlie was overheard telling a high priced lawyer exactly that. Let’s face it. It’s tough to get ahead in America if you are black.
