After what he called an "excellent and informative Cabinet meeting," President Obama told reporters that he accepts the apology of Rep. Joe Wilson, R-SC, who shouted "You lie!" during the presidents address to a joint session of Congress last night.
"Yes I do," the president said. "Im a big believer that we all make mistakes. He apologized quickly and without equivocation. And Im appreciative of that."
Mr. Obama then turned to use Wilson as something of an example making this a teachable moment, perhaps saying that "we have to get to the point where we can have a conversation about big, important issues that matter to the American people without vitriol, without name-calling without the assumption of the worst in other peoples motives

A wimp of a wilson....
But, Mr. Pres--ent, you just told us to shut up and get out of the way. Not all of us are bobble-headed media bootlickers.
We have to get past the “vitriol?”
“I’ll call you out... Liars”

Then YOU back off from radical Marxism, blatant racism and the ongoing, all-fronts war on the productive, a$$wipe.
Well, I’m not sorry he said it. So FUBO!
Why, mr President? Got the cold shakes after last night???
You want civility?
Quit lying to us. Quit pushing socialism. Quit supporting abortion.

The President needs to attend the DC Tea Party. What do you want to bet that he’s out of town. He may get some answers as to what the people want.
Why? Can’t stand the heat. Can’t stand being called what he is.
“making this a teachable moment”
I look forward to the day that 2,000,000 very upset patriots show up on your doorstep to provide you with a “teachable moment”.
The “fever” won’t break until this festering sore called Obama is removed from the body politic.
BO lies in his speech and Wilson apologizes? It’s another instance of a spineless OP that will never stand strong for Conservatism.
Man, if McBlametheGOP, and the “GOP bleedership” can put a lid on Wilson, imagine how hard their clammy, oven-mitted hands are pressing down on the simmering potlid of Obama’s Unqualified Stew?!!
I feel obama’s ‘fever’ comment is intended to imply that the only possible reason that Wilson called him a liar is that blind political hatred drove him to attack. obama’s trying to diffuse the truth of the accusation ‘liar’.
I believe the kind of disgust that I feel is probably what actually drove Wilson to attack - and my objections to Obama are not ‘strictly political. Really. The man lies and preens and prances. Who WANTS to look at that. Who isn’t insulted when lied to?
I don’t want our political chambers to bear a resemblance to banana republics so I believe Wilson was correct to apologize. I objected to it when the Dems publicly showed their contempt for the last president.
Maybe. It was the House Republican Leadership that asked Rep. Wilson to apologize. I don't know what they can bring to bear on Wilson, but I expect the real wimps are in the Leadership.
Boehner did come back with proof that Wilson was right, but that isn't going to get the coverage. Now that press coverage is more important than actually debating your colleagues, the R Leadership should realize they are not in a debate club.
Wilson totally blew away what Obama tried to do. The apology gave back a lot of that advantage. His apology should have mentioned that he was just following the same protocols the Dems used when booing Bush at a State of the Union speech.
In accepting the apology, Obama was able to make it appear that he wasn't the one who started the name calling.
The apology should have been: I'm sorry I interrupted your speech like my Democratic colleagues did to Bush, I should not have stooped to their level. I should have waited until the end of your speech to call you the liar that you are. I am offended that you would call your opponents liars when that statement is not true. It is not worthy of the office of the President, nor welcome in this building.
Phooey.
Obama did lie - repeatedly.
