I am not bothered by the apology as some people are. It was a human moment and I have had plenty of those. :-) We all agree with the statement. As much as I relished hearing it, it did break decorum.

Newt explains it here:
http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/stories/1998/09/10/transcripts/gingrich.floor.html

When Wilson apologized he took what he did off of the table. (even though the left is trying to work to country up into a tizzy over it) The discussion is about the lie and not about Wilson (although he gets the obligatory mention)

I agree....This IS too good. Almost the best of both worlds drawing attention to illegals and the lies.

Felt the apology was necessary and still do not see why people are upset he apologized which was a classy move. Thanks for posting Newt’s comments.

My favorite part was Boehner taking full advantage of this and pointing out how the Dems had defeated the two bills that would have made certain no health insurance for illegals when even CNN replayed his comments.

Gave a chance to go after Specter and tell him to butt out of GOP business.

This also brought to light how Pres Bush was heckled by the Dems that would never have seen the light of day without Wilsons ‘you lie’ comment.

The Dems walked right into the firestorm wanting Wilson censured and Pelosi knew it which kept me chuckling all evening.
