There was an amendment by Heller to confirm the status of aliens. It was defeated by the democrats. There is no mechanism to verify status before getting the healthcare.

From what I’ve read, while there’s no clear statement that illegals will get benefits, there’s nothing in the bill that triggers exclusion. Thus, the can and will qualify.
If he makes them legal; he has lost their vote. They aren’t going to vote for Obama or any of the Congress. They will vote only their own people in.
If Obama makes them legal, he loses their vote.

I read on another blog that if a bill does NOT specifically EXCLUDE something then by legal predent it INCLUDES it.
These bills don’t specifically EXCLUDE illegals so therefore they do include them. Politicians who say the bills don’t include illegals are being disingenuous.
I bet the bills DO EXCLUDE congress, the WH and unions, though.

Doesn’t matter from the get-go: if there’s no enforcement mechanism applied, it’s illegal for caregivers to determine the illegality on their own.
You make a point here that even the Democrats don't seem to understand.
Unlimited illegal immigration and amnesty will only be of benefit to the Democrats in the short term (one generation). When the Hispanic component becomes 51% of the electorate, they will no longer need the Democrats as their grantors of goodies. They will be able to vote anything they want for themselves - hell with the Democrats and their Anglos and Blacks and Asians. They will set up their own political party, La Partidad de la Raza, which will fit in with the cultural solidarity the Hispanics value above all else, especially above a sense of being "Americans".
Of course, the Republicans will be long gone the way of the Whigs.

He doesn’t even need to make them legal first. Even if the final bill excludes illegals, the courts will rule that illegals must have access to public health care, in the same way the courts ruled in the 1980s that illegals must have access to public education.
So Congress can pass a bill excluding illegals, knowing full well the Courts will finish the job for them.
