WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama will tell Congress on Wednesday "the time for bickering is over" and call for quick action on a comprehensive healthcare overhaul that would dramatically transform the U.S. insurance market and health system.
In excerpts of his high-stakes, nationally televised speech to the U.S. Congress scheduled for 8 p.m. EDT (0000 GMT), Obama says lawmakers are "closer to the goal of reform than we have ever been" and issued a warning to critics.
"I will not waste time with those who have made the calculation that it's better politics to kill this plan than improve it," he said in the excerpts. "If you misrepresent what's in the plan, we will call you out."
Obama hopes his speech will rejuvenate his flagging push for an overhaul of the $2.5 trillion healthcare system, which has bogged down in Congress and driven down his approval ratings amid a flood of criticism.
"Instead of honest debate, we have seen scare tactics," Obama said of the volleys of criticism aimed at his plan in recent months.
The excerpts include a series of concrete proposals he said should be included in any final bill passed by Congress, including creation of an insurance exchange where individuals and small businesses could shop for policies.
Obama said he would prohibit insurers from dropping coverage for sick patients and capping coverage in a year or lifetime, would place a limit on out-of-pocket expenses, and require insurers to cover routine check-ups.

The arrogance of the man is unbelievable. He still thinks he is the BOSS of Congress.
You would think he would have accidentally learned the role of the Executive Branch when he was given his academic and monetary free ride at Harvard.

As an employer I was not moved by The President’s speech. I have seen my business grind to a halt as this economy is on life support and creating more ways to tax my business will put more folks on unemployement in the fourth quarter.
Good jobs are leaving America as the democrats want to tax business to death. Add on Cap and trade and other issues and America is done as a capitalist nation.
I don’t need to provide jobs for almost 300 employees when I have enough for my immediate family for a couple of generations. But my family has run this Business for over 85 years employing hard working Americans.
Does my congressman or my President really care about the 300 employees?
I care for them as that is why I keep my family business open. I know the names of the husbands,wifes, kids and grandkids.
Mr. President should I stay in business or do you tax my business out of business?

Obama the marxist says he is going to save enough from one huge, inefficient, wasteful government program, Medicare, to pay for an even larger (eventually) also sure to be enefficient wasteful government program, Obamacare.

Can you possibly trust or believe after the stimulus, bail-out, and Cash for Clunkers fiascos that this is what will happen?

Read the bill the Democrats put forward. it is a HUGE government bureaucracy.
...and, it will lead to government officials deciding the standards for who gets coverage when...basically, for older Americans, it will amount to death panels.

Basic speech is don’t think, just listen to me, I am the emperor. And its Bush’s fault.
Here’s what he really means: “The time for bickering is over. Just do it my way or we will call you out!!”
All I kept thinking while watching the speech was that he looked dicatatorial, not presidential. It’s like watching Chavez on Slim Fast.

Video of Obama stating he will televise the Health care Debate on C-Span. Since he has not kept his promise, most of the disorder at town hall meetings can be attributed to his failure to keep his campaign promises
