The discovery of a weapons cache in western Afghanistan has raised concerns that Iran is interfering in the war-torn country, much like it did in Iraq, by supplying weapons used to attack and kill U.S. and coalition troops, U.S. officials tell FOX News.

...top U.S. military official tells FOX News that an Iranian rocket was recently fired at a base in Herat. Additional intelligence suggests that Iranians have been providing support directly to the Taliban.

You know,...if this wasn't so stupid,..it would be sad. According to open source reports over the years, this has been going on with Iran, and our military leaders continue to belly ache about it...and nothing was done. Now,..Iran is utterly defiant in their nuclear weapon quest, and the last chance we had for the Iranians to have an internal revolution was missed.

We are asleep at the wheel heading for a bar ditch.

IMHO if the source of an enemies weaponry is not attacked and destroyed then the war cannot be won. We’ve been there and done that enough.

We’re not asleep at the wheel. We’re ruled by favored constituents (free-traitor corporates, who don’t want freight fuel prices to rise) and their family members in government and academia. Our Nation is quickly becoming a fascist oligarchy with favored constituents serving other fascist oligarchies (e.g., China).

The fun hasn’t even started, yet. That will happen, after more of us understand the scope of economic cleansing that is beginning.

Another one of many parts:

Iranian Explosives Found in Afghanistan

By John J. Kruzel
American Forces Press Service

WASHINGTON, Sept. 10, 2009 – Iranian-made explosives and rockets were among a cache of weapons uncovered in Afghanistan last month, a Pentagon spokesman said today.

The stockpile, which Afghan National Security Forces seized Aug. 29 in the western city of Herat, consisted of Iranian rockets, improvised explosive devices, or IEDs, and other bomb-making materials, Bryan Whitman told Pentagon reporters today. Afghan forces also arrested two people affiliated with the weapons, he said.

“Iran continues to play a destabilizing role in the region,” Whitman said.

The discovery of the IEDs — the biggest single cause of American casualties in Afghanistan — and other weapons marks the first discovery of such Iranian-manufactured weapons in the country in about two years, Whitman said. Troops last uncovered Iranian explosives in Farah province in October 2007.

Whitman acknowledged the difficulty in determining when the weapons arrived and said the most recent discovery does not constitute a trend.
