Just one day after President Obama plans tries to recapture the initiative in the health-care debate with a speech to a joint session of Congress, thousands of taxpayers plan to storm Washington, D.C., in a three-day event to take their fight against excessive spending, bailouts, growth of big government and soaring deficits to the front door of the U.S. Capitol.
In a major movement unaffiliated with but inspired by Fox News' Glenn Beck's 9-12 Project, called the National Taxpayer Protest, thousands of Americans are answering the call and traveling to make their voices heard at Capitol Hill. Sept. 10 marks the kickoff of the three-day march on Washington.
Brendan Steinhauser of FreedomWorks, one of the groups organizing the Sept. 12 event, told WND, "We're expecting a huge gathering at the Washington, D.C., armory in the morning, and we'll talk about bailouts, cap and trade and health care. The feedback has been great. It's been phenomenal. Everybody wants to be a part of the event, and it's exciting."
The National Taxpayer Protest Facebook page hosts more than 2,200 members. Some comments include:
- I can't wait. It's time for Congress to listen instead of dictate
- I will be going and taking the whole family with me.
- Let's take back America and put it in the hands of those who truly care for the interests of this nation and its people!
- This is more than important it is imperative. I am going to try to go! Hope to see y'all there!
- I'm spending hundreds of dollars to get there from Las Vegas, and it's worth every penny!
- This is a good start. We have to stand up and fight for our rights and our future!

Ping.
When it get's uncomfortable for the Washington establishment. Convoys of tractors driving around Washington, or convoys of RV's of oldsters keeping congress critters from getting home on time. Things like that make it feel real big because it hits home to them.
It would be my honor to be tank guy.
Any projected number for 9/12? Any predictions?
The press will avoid giving the numbers, and the DC police can be relied on to provide figures that are only about one tenth of the actual numbers.
They have had plenty of practice doing this, at the annual right-to-life observations in Washington.
Still, it’s very much worth doing, and the word will get out at least to some extent via the internet and talk radio. And Drudge.
I think if he proposes single payer tonight there will be millions. People who are waiting to see, are going to get angry. They will hop in their cars and drive to D.C..
If it goes well for Obama tonight and he addresses the town halls, it will placate some. I think that he is so out of touch at this point, he will force our hands and send us to D.C.
There has been speculation of a repeat of the Bonus Marchers Debacle.
Would that, Wake Up America?
It didn’t back then.
Mounted Troops Led by MacArthur and Including George S. Patton
advanced with Sabers drawn, Slashing and Burning out the Veterans.
I don’t know how many participants will make the march successful in the eyes of the MSM. But that is not the objective. Getting in the face of the Washington DC Establishment is the goal. Confronting the elitists in their own element. Making the Pollys uncomfortable.
In support of the National Tea Party, we are expecting 1000 plus to rally at the Missouri State Capital on Sat 9-12. That scene should be repeated in every state.
So you tell me. What success is?
And NO. Obama knows better than to fire the first shot at this point, in a family event in full public view.
Yeah. The Million Moron March only had 100k but it still was called the million moron march.
So we can promote whatever numbers we like and keep posting them and they will become truth.
Be sure to take plenty of pictures.
While I do not want to take any shots at Mister Beck, this was not inspired by him. I went to my first Tea Party back in April and we have planned to go to Washington this day ever since. To "Ex Facto" give him credit for the whole thing is wrong, and for Fox or any other Political or Media megalith to do so, is just plain wrong.
If you get 1000 in Jeff City this time, you'll get 5,000 next time. I wish I could be there - but I will be in DC. If we have 100,000 in DC this time, we might have 500,000 next time.
You may be right about the 1000 figure. What I do know, is that when I went to the Tea Party in KC, I expected a couple of hundred and it was closer to 7,000. I know that there are six chartered buses coming from Missouri and my in-laws are taking a chartered bus from Youngstown, OH (the union capital of the world). I myself am flying in - no big deal. You could make the number bigger by one (haha).
Looking forward to it.
