Poll finds soaring European support for US policy

WASHINGTON – European support for the U.S. president's handling of foreign policy has soared since President Barack Obama took over from former President George W. Bush, but Europeans continue to view major issues including Afghanistan, Iran and global warming differently than Americans view them, a poll released Wednesday found.

Among those polled in the European Union and Turkey, about three-fourths, on average, said they supported Obama's handling of foreign policy compared with about a fifth who said the same for Bush last year, according to the survey. It was conducted by the German Marshall Fund of the United States, a nonpartisan policy institution that promotes trans-Atlantic cooperation, and the Compagnia di San Paolo, a research center in Turin, Italy.

The results were especially pronounced in Germany, where support shot up 80 percentage points to 92 percent, and in France, where it rose 77 percentage points to 88 percent.

No surprise really. Europeans by and large opt for the “bend over and grab your ankles” style of foreign policy.

Excellent. We are popular with Europeans. The Democrats are thrilled.
All it took was crashing the economy, cozying up to third world dictators, imposing draconian restrictions on the rules of engagement that are getting servicemen killed, cutting the military, and abandoning all of our principles.

Isn't that fantastic? We're liked!

This is SURE proof that he is on the wrong track.

These are the same whining weasels who needed to be rescued at least TWICE in the past century by thousands of dead and wounded American Heroes. The same nutjobs who killed each other off in one mindless war after another for over 2,000 years. The same base cowards who are allowing their countries to be stolen from under their noses by the followers of a mad desert bandit, while they rape and assault their women, slaughter their men and impose their lunatic Sharia law in the shadow of what once represented itself as a great civilization.

What is the greatest historical miracle is how these people actually created such a great nation as ours.

But of course. They know the WH is occupied by a guy (and an admin.) who despises the U.S. even more than they do.

Ask them what we’re doing differently. Not what we’re saying, but how is Obama handling Iraq and Afghanistan differently than GWB?

This is a surprise?

Several posts above this one is an article about the US losing it’s #1 spot as most competitive nation. Lost it to Switzerland.

Little wonder that the Euros are cheering us on...

"I don't see any "policy" at all"

That was my reaction, too. Maybe, by policy, they mean appeasement, retreat, apologies and neglect. That's what the current foreign policy of the Obama Administration looks like to me...
