WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama takes on the bitter healthcare reform debate on Wednesday with a high-stakes speech to the U.S. Congress on his top domestic policy priority.
Aides have promised Obama's nationally televised address will provide specifics about his vision for overhauling the $2.5 trillion U.S. healthcare system -- although they said he will not offer his own legislation.
"The president will outline his plan moving forward," both on healthcare and how to get a bill passed by Congress, said spokesman Robert Gibbs. "I don't think you'll walk away confused about where he is."
Obama told ABC News in an interview he would use his speech to "make sure that Democrats and Republicans understand that I'm open to new ideas, that we're not being rigid and ideological about this thing, but we do intend to get something done this year."
One administration official said the president would articulate his vision of bringing affordable coverage to those who do not have insurance and more security to those who do.
"His plan will bring reforms that will reduce the unsustainable growth in the cost of health care, which has doubled in the last decade and will again, unless we act," said the official, who requested anonymity.

This is the ObamaDeathCare BHO wants to roll in down our throats. Oh, boy, wouldn't he love to be the Grim Reaper.
Excellent video.
For Obama to lay out his own legislation desires would mean his poll numbers would plummet to the teens. Obama has admitted he wants a single-payer system even though he denies it now.
This Chicago gangster politician is a marxist poser punk.
1-Making the speech at all-people are tired of Obama, he is overexposed.
2-The venue-he will be perceived as attempting to bypass the will of the citizens, and appealing to the least trusted and esteemed people in the country, in order to power his plan into existence.
3-The content of the speech-the voters consider the health care debate even more tedious than the President himself.
4-Our President will attempt to convince us that health care reform is somehow tied to improving the economy-an impossible task that will further erode his popularity and trust, if not place him firmly among the creepiest politicians in a century.
I heard some pol on the radio on the way in saying it was urgent. Give me a break; the only urgent thing is their desire for control.
I don’t think the debate has been “bitter” at all.
In fact, there really hasn’t even been a debate as the liberal proponents have refused to even acknowledge any of their ideas.
The process right now is just Reid/Pelosi/Obama looking for political cover so they can get it passed yet avoid responsibility for their actions.
True indeed. Under the Third Reich, there was Hitlercare, and euthanasia was legalized to kill the ‘useless eaters’ and anyone who still sought after private health care. Obamacare plans to replicate this trend, in America.

Obamacare and Money
I predict the lowest rating of speeches yet.
said spokesman Robert Gibbs. “I don’t think you’ll walk away confused about where he is.” Obama told ABC News...
Hey Gibbs, that is the problem. Enough of us KNOW exactly what Obamas position is and what he wants to do to this Country.
Times “TORT REFORM” is mentioned ? = zero
‘nuff said. Any “reform” is a joke unless you address the greedy lawyers.
He'd have to. You mean to tell me we are going to take a country where a good percentage of the heathcare needs are behaviorly induced. (heart, diabetes, obesity, etc) and we 1. either won't go broke in short order or 2. be expected to radically reduce our lifestyles??
By reducing our lifestyles I mean-- 1. Huge VAT taxes to reduce food consumption. (I live in Sweden, food here is twice or three times what it costs in America)
2. Less driving, more walking. Meaning orchestrated fuel shortages and higher taxes discouraging auto use and discourage rural or suburban living.
Americans ready for that?
Not a chance.
