Rejoice! While yes, Barack Hussein Obama is still our president, the era of radical liberalism running amuck, unchecked by mainstream America is over. As the Oval office becomes more and more tainted, Americans are slowly coming back to their roots, embracing conservative values and finding their inner anti-hippie. Are you guys as stoked as I am?

September 12th is not that far away.

If they do not get the message then, they never will.

The Old Eagle has awakened and is very very angry at what he sees.

Sounds nice, but don’t be lulled into false security. There are a LOT of Obamamites out there who still believe all the garbage he spews. It is unfortunately going to take something horrendous to wake a lot of them up, IMO.

Yep. The push-back against the push-back begins Wednesday.

Anti-hippie? Now we are faced with the pro-bigot movement. Y’all just keep alienating everyone who doesn’t totally agree with you. Keep it up and we will end up in the same sinking boat we’re trying to bail out now, down the road. The yuppie/plastic hippie movement was the radical left, not your generic dirt digging hippie. Terminology, dude. You also need to learn and understand that the real hippies were not indigenous of your typical Haight Ashbury drug culture yuppies. The real ones were out tilling their fields, planting crops, and living a clean life, devoid of such things as mono-sodium glutamate and chewing tobacco. I see those people as modern day homesteaders, reminiscent of our ancestors who crossed the prairies in covered wagons looking for the right place to wrest a living from. When civilization collapses, and it will eventually, y’all are going to be wishing that you had one tenth the survival knowledge that a true hippie has. Quit bashing those people you don’t really understand and start worrying about your own misgivings. Remember dude, the golden rule.

The 2010 elections may settle the present battle. Passage of a health care “something” this year may predict 2010. If the Dims can craft, pass, and sign *anything*, they will immediately begin “nudging” it toward a single payer system. Rejoice if you can; rejoicing is good; don’t relax.

Nikola tells me that today, 9/9/09, may become known as: ‘the day Barack Obama’s vocal mojo cratered’.

As someone who has been ther and done that, and remembers it, I’d ave to say that there was a lot of overlap between the drug culure hippies and the crop planting hippies — they were far from two different tribes. As a teenager I was on quite a few farms that offered the opposite of what you describe as a clean life.

Waaaaaaaaaay too early to call this. The Republicans have more than enough time to screw this up by stabbing conservatives in the back yet again. But the ball is solidly in the GOP’s court. If they ACTUALLY LISTEN to their Conservative base and slap down the RINOs, the sky is the limit.

Look up the terms...you were NOT with the so called real hippies...they lived, and still do in mostly monogamous relationships, raised families and cared far more about their health and spirituality than the radical and or mainstream “plastic hippies” who formed communes in an extension of the drug culture.

I am originally from Humboldt County, California. I moved to Oregon after my two enlistments in the US Navy. When I left the service due to getting my ass wiped out, I found that Humboldt had gotten way to weird for even my liking, so I packed my ditty bag and split to what was then redneck paradise. Now even this area has turned almost totally blue. Former plastic hippies who became yuppies now run the show, just like down in Cali. The only true commune I EVER was aware of was a place called “Amazon Acres”, and the name says it all. That was in Humboldt. Up here, the closest to “runaway communes” was Gloria Whites’ place. She harbored “The Falcon”. Plastic hippies were only trying to emulate those who were already established, and failed miserably at that. Those communes no longer exist, period, but the true so called hippies are still well established. Says a lot... You ran away from something, looking for better days and found a circus full of fools, clowns, and criminal miscreants. You seem to have missed the real deal entirely.

There was Buck Brook Farm in upstate NY and Tolstoy Farm in..was it Washington? Maybe Oregon.
I think it’s pointless to categorize people in the way that you do. It’s kind of a cult-like (the elect of God), quasi- commie concept — like the arguements over whether the “real” comunists were the Stalinists or the Trotskyites.Back then, there was a lot of overlap and flow back and forth. There were serious poets in Bolinas Ca. You’d run into some of these people in Morroco or Nepal the next year. It was like a tide. There were people who were political, people who took drugs, people who were vegetarians, people into the occult, and combinations of all of these.
