Blame Liberal Policies for More Pricey Food

Food is becoming more expensive and the problem is only going to get worse, Glenn Beck said on his TV show last week. “Why is the world's bread basket running low on bread and you haven't heard anything about it?” asked Beck.

While huge wildfires burn in California, the state’s farmers are suffering through an environmental crisis that the government is making worse, he said. Central Valley, a 400-mile long area spread out over 18 counties “is responsible for 57 percent of the state's total farming” and California represents around 13 percent of the nation’s farming.

Federal environmental rulings aimed at protecting a little fish called the delta smelt have reduced water shipments to local farmers to a mere 10 percent of previous levels. Beck said:

In a sick twist of irony, the government is actually starving the farmers, which is weird, because I know a little something about history. This is exactly what happened with FDR. It's like Obama is the new Roosevelt.
Beck played a video clip of Van Jones, the communist 9/11 "truther" who resigned under fire over the weekend. Jones is shown saying:
We began to realize that we're really entering a third wave of environmentalism in the United States. The first wave is […] the Teddy Roosevelt […] conservation era, which had its day. And then in 1963, Rachel Carson writes the book, Silent Spring, and she's talking about toxics in the environment, and that really kind of opens up a whole new way. So, it's no longer just conservation, but it's conservation plus regulation.

The following is what will do the most toward bringing you “more pricey food.”

HR2749 The Food and Safety Enhancement Act coming up for VOTE in SENATE. BEWARE THE RESULTS!

The page behind the following link shows who voted in favor of that bill in the House (including Bachmann).

And BTW, the most favored constituents who contribute to both political parties are settling on a figure for the world’s total population, as they want it to be: about half a billion. That was the estimated population number during the Renaissance (the way they think: gay).

This is pretty much correct. Roosevelt’s Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA) authorized the destruction of millions of tons of food crops and livestock in order to restore profitability to the agricultural sectors (decreasing supply = higher prices). It further authorized payments to the owners of farmland to offset these losses. As a result, it became more profitable for landowners to simply let the land lie fallow than to rent the land to sharecroppers (who were S.O.L. under the guy who claimed to remember “The Forgotten Man”).

Let me tell you liberals out there how things work. 1st, government taxes the “evil” corporations. Corporations have investors (you and me)that demand the “evil” corporation to at least try to make money, so the “evil” corporation raises the price of it's commodity in order to remain in business. In turn, what you buy from the “evil” corporation costs more. Now who is really the evil one in this scenario?

Thank you sir. You know, I explained this to my kids who are quit young, and they get it. I didn’t lie to them, I imply said how things work. Why can’t full grown, educated adults understand simple things like this?

Let me tell you how else it’s gonna work if our Dear Usurper gets his way. Food prices will go higher and higher—which like high gas prices will be seen as a good, helping Americans who can’t help themselves from obesity-level gluttony. But that means more of the poor and, egads, middle class will have a tough time buying the food they need. So, what to do? Why, we’ll just introduce a government option to increase competition with the free market—and continue to regulate the free market until it’s squeezed dry.

If it’s a reasonable rationale for health care, certainly food to eat should be as universal a good. And while we’re at it, housing. Then why not clothing? I don’t think there’s a reason to exempt anything!

“And BTW, the most favored constituents who contribute to both political parties are settling on a figure for the world’s total population, as they want it to be: about half a billion.”

The warped left’s PRIMARY objective has ALWAYS been depopulation.

Ukraine, China and Cambodia used starvation.

In my opinion, everything else is a sideshow.
