WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., Sept. 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- State Senator Dean Florez (D-Shafter), in an email to one of his supporters, defended his bill, SB250, the latest mandatory spay and neuter measure working its way through the State legislature, which he sponsored.
Unfortunately, according to Cathie Turner, Executive Director of the nonprofit organization Concerned Dog Owners of California (CDOC), his defense is riddled with misstatements and inaccuracies.

Mods, any way to fix title? My bad.
spay and neuter measure
Why would you every think you can keep your animals the way you want them? They are animals after all, and have privileges and protections.
Do you want them to spay or neuter it?
I think the mandatory spay and neuter measure was supposed to be part of the healthcare bill. They'll probably fix that when they iron out the details in committee.
This is another example where the lawmakers who want to pass this legislation must also agree to submit themselves to the language of the bill.
:-)
I read that even the CA Dept. of Finance is opposed to the bill because their analysis shows that the bill is going to cost the state more money even though the bill’s proponents keep saying it will save money.
Just curious what Californians think of this bill and how likely it is to pass. Dog person here. S/N should be my choice because there are some negative health consequences related to S/N, especially if the procedure is performed as pediatric S/N (bill requires S/N before six months). I’m all for voluntary S/N...two of my three are speutered, but procedure was done when they were older.
Bad bill, and needs to fail.
Thanks, mods :-)
Mandatory spay/neuter of politicians...now that’s a bill I could support.
Agreed. Just wondering what the feeling in CA is for that actually happening. Watching the issue from MI and reading so much misinformation put out by proponents of the bill.
