Obama’s Big Health Care Speech: What He Should Say — and Shouldn’t Say
Pajamas Media ^ | Sept. 8 | Nicholas Guariglia

On Wednesday, President Obama will address Congress to give what is being described as a “make-or-break” speech on health care. With polls indicating most Americans oppose President Obama’s vision for health care reform — and are becoming increasingly disillusioned with Mr. Obama himself — the administration felt it necessary to roll the dice in order to salvage what Obama considers to be his chief domestic priority. Reforming health care was supposed to be the defining moment of Obama’s legacy, his signature achievement. Therefore, it is not an understatement to suggest the nature and content of this upcoming speech — how it is delivered, how it is received by the rest of the country — could dictate the course of Obama’s presidency and provide either a catalyst or hindrance to accomplishing the rest of what he wants to achieve in this term.

The stakes could not be higher. So what will Obama say? Perhaps the better question is: what shouldn’t he say?

For starters, President Obama shouldn’t use straw-man fallacies to caricaturize his critics. He is incredibly fond of this rhetorical tactic. Key phrases to watch out for: “some say” or “there are those who say” — dismal strawmanese followed by an extraordinarily ridiculous statement or argument nobody is saying or has ever said. Making up your opponent’s argument is the oldest trick in the book. It’s beneath strong leadership and gets the country nowhere....

He shouldn’t say anything at all. Let the people decide what they want.

I honestly don’t care what Obama is going to say, I’m more interested in what the Republicans are going to say. Obama’s hell-th care plan is going down in flames. And as sure as anything, the Democrats will try to blame it all on the Republican obstructionists. The GOP needs to step into the gap and present their own plan as a clear, logical, effective alternative and start pushing for it. It may not go anywhere but it makes it clear that the Republicans had an alternative to the failed scheme in hand and ready to go, and that it was the Democrats that were the obstructionists in the end.

His goal is to manipulate, threaten and give no options he will attempt to push what he wants through no matter what.

Obama’s Big Health Care Speech: What He Should Say — and Shouldn’t Say.

I would suggest: “The is above my pay grade, I resign. and I am taking Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid with me.”

what he WILL say...

1. We need to reform healthcare because of (an inflated number of folks who are uninsured.)

2. He will LIE to the rafters that you and I will be able to keep our plans and doctors (we would not)

3. He will further lie that older folks care (under Medicare) will not change (it will be confiscated and defunded)

4. He will lie horrifically that his plan (the final version of which he has not, of course, even seen, as it needs to come from both houses of Congress) will cut costs with such nonsensical ignorance as substituting a cheaper blue pill for that expensive red one, and putting a stop to those optional tonsillectomies (parading his ignorance as if he were streaking it, and proving that he thinks we are soooooo stupid.)

He will have no shortage of blames on others, including those of us "angry mobsters" who had the temerity to attend Town Hall Meetings (recall that Marxists don't countenance dissent)

.

And he will NOT say that ...

The tort bar needs serious reform

Or that medical savings accounts would help

Or that illegal aliens will not be entitled to any of our tax supported experiment with socialized medicine

Or that this is really just a "5 year plan" a la Stalin etc.

.

And to PROVE he is LYING, he will NOT THREATEN TO VETO any bill which does not specify all the free lunches that he promises without compunction. (Recall his willingness to veto any bill that doesn't kill the F-22 air superiority USAF fighter construction: meaning that time he was serious).

.

Rep. Tom Price R-Ga. has had HR3400, a bill in the House, as an alternative to the Obambi Health Scheme. But of course Pelosi and friends have blocke it even getting into a committie!

Obambi lies when he says the Republicans do not have a plan. He lied to the Union Thugs when he said it to them yesterday in his speech and the Union Thugs cheered!

And what have the Republicans done to unite behind the plan and to push for the plan and to publicize the plan? Nothing. The GOP leadership should be highlighting this every chance they get.

0bozo....you're an asshole!!! That's right, an asshole!!! And I won't apologize for calling you this!!! The problem is not the speech, it's the whole socialized healthcare (un)reform debacle that 0bozo keeps trying to shove down our throats.

The two primary elements and in fact ONLY elements of healthcare reform and the two that are most glaringly absent from from any demoRAT health care proposal

1) Open up competitive insurance plans & companies across all 50 states, allowing us to pick & choose the best ones & most competitive ones.

2) Tort Reform and limiting gross malpractice settlements that hurt doctors & patients, and enrich ambulance chasing demoRAT lawyers.

What he should say? “Gotcha! Hey - just kidding guys! That was a good one, huh?” And then he proceeds to present a real plan we all can live with... (and then I woke up.)

He should show us a backdrop of some old Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers routines and then do some tap dancing in front of it.

On Wednesday, President Obama will address Congress to give what is being described as a “make-or-break” speech on health care.

Given those alternatives, my vote is for 'break'.

The best thing he could say is this: "I realize my efforts directed at reform were not written with input from you, the American people. Rather, they were written in a calculated way to maximize the political benefit to groups who support me. Therefore, we're going to start over again and we're going to listen to you this time."

And as long as I'm dreaming, I'd like a pony.
