The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 29% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -11 (see trends).

Forty-five percent (45%) of Americans believe that labor unions weaken America while 26% hold the opposite view. Rasmussen Reports will release new polling on health care over the next couple of days beginning at 10:30 a.m. Eastern today. Premium Members can get an advance look at the data.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates also available on Twitter and Facebook. A Month-by-Month Review of the President’s ratings shows that the Presidential Approval Index served as a leading indicator by declining months before the President’s overall job approval ratings fell.

Overall, 50% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. Forty-nine percent (49%) disapprove. Sixty percent (60%) now believe the President is at least as ethical as most politicians.

The double-digit separation is nice, but I really prefer triple-digit separation.

“I really prefer triple-digit separation”

I shudder at the thought. Even Nixon’s approval rating the day before he resigned was 27%, and a net of -36. That was bad enough.

but I really prefer triple-digit separation.

That only happens in Cuba, former Iraq, Iran, Venezuela, and North Korea.

Be thankful you live in a republic... well, sort of. You can tell your grandkids about it someday... ;)

He has been holding steady at -8 to -13 for several weeks

I suspect the worse is over for him unless the Lockerbie expose breaks big time —but it seems to have disappeared

No chance. He is the beneficiary of a holiday week/weekend, that’s all. After the focus goes back to his version of healthcare reform and the coming massive tax increases to pay for it, part of which could be Cap and Trade, he’ll reach new lows.

I OTOH expect the trend line to show a further increase in Strongly Disaprove ressulting in -15% at least.

“Sixty percent (60%) now believe the President is at least as ethical as most politicians.”

Translation: 60% of Americans now believe that Obama is a traitorous crook.

Don’t forget the Van Jones resignation being done smack dab in the middle of a holiday weekend, that should draw some looks today as well. Should draw some attention to his other czars, too.

I can pretty well guess the trend in the “real” poll from the headline. If no exclamation points, it’s bad. Sure enough, Obama back to 50% approval, having crawled back from 45%. HUH???
