I am an admirer of Kathy Shaidle’s work, but in attacking Alan Colmes she became needlessly (and unfairly) personal. Alan Colmes was an important component of the Hannity and Colmes show, providing an element of the unpredictable and putting conservatives like myself to the test.

Colmes is Gollum with glasses and a leftist shill of the highest order.
Colmes was an annoying distraction. His snarky what-ifs and sarcastic reverse analogies were somewhat instructive on lib-fascist thought processes, inasmuch as you can describe it as “thought”, but otherwise immensely boring. Hannity does need a foil, but Colmes was unattractive physically and ideologically. He can do better.
Alan Colmes is one of the most left wing anti-American scum that I have seen, but he uses his Constitutional rights to talk but like other left wingers wants to stop all true Americans from their Constitutional freedom to talk.
I havent watched Hannity’s show since Colmes left. As much as I disagree with him, he did add a lot to the show. Now it just seems more one sided.
Given that Colmes said he was "agnostic" on the 9/11 Truthers, that Van Jones is a mainstream liberal, and that FReepers are "right in the middle" between right wingers and NeoNazis . . . I would say even worse things about the little twerp but I might get banned.
Hannity is live a live-action interpretation of a talking points fax. It should take 5 minutes rather than a full hour.

If by ‘important component’ he means: talked over and generally didn't let the Conservative guests speak, then yes he was.

Kinda like surfing channels and coming across the Butch Maddow show.
For most of Colmes’ time on H&C he played a solid foil to Hannity. He was on the left, but he seemed to make a real effort to be fair.
I noticed Colmes lurched heavily to the left the last few months he was on. I realize now he had probably been told he was going to be dropped from the show, and was reverting to true form. The stuff I’ve seen him on since H&C, he has been the typical liberal. More concerned about protecting the liberal than the truth.
Hannyity though (imho) is not much better. His standing up for Romeny’s health care program is just one example. Hannity would rather protect Romney (because he is a Republican) than expose Romney-Care for what it is.
