Obama to tell students to take responsibility (From a man who blames anyone but himself for failure)

Take responsibility for your education. Go to class and listen. Don't let failures define you.

That's the advice President Barack Obama will give schoolchildren Tuesday in a speech that drew fire even before he delivered it.

"We need every single one of you to develop your talents, skills and intellect so you can help solve our most difficult problems," Obama said. "If you don't do that — if you quit on school — you're not just quitting on yourself, you're quitting on your country."

The White House posted Obama's remarks on its Web site Monday.

The president was to deliver the talk at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Va., a Washington suburb. The speech will be broadcast live on C-SPAN and on the White House Web site.

In the prepared remarks, Obama tells young people that all the work of parents, educators and others won't matter "unless you show up to those schools, pay attention to those teachers."

Obama's planned talk has proven controversial, with several conservative organizations and individuals accusing him of trying to pitch his arguments too aggressively in a local-education setting. White House officials, including Education Secretary Arne Duncan, have said the allegations are silly.

His arrogance remains breathtaking to watch.

Perhaps to some.

For me, his arrogance remains too painful to watch.

Rush needs to do a simultaneous translation to Eubonics and Spanglish for most of the kids who need this info.

If he truly only says to them, "Stay in school, listen to your teachers and do your homework", then I think that is a good message for them to hear, although it is peculiar for a sitting President to deliver a major address to kids.

But, BUT, if he laces it with indoctrination and ideas of service in the Hopeychangemas Youth, then it is unacceptable. If he adds tones of socialism and doing away with the old ways, it is unacceptable.

I htink he is primarily trying to promote himself.

A narcissist rarely thinks of other than himself.

I've read the prepared statement from the White House that Obama will present to our children and it seem harmless enough. I mean, both Presidents Reagan and Bush 41 gave talks to our kids.

The problem I have is with what the discussions might be afterwards by teachers who are predominately liberal.

"OK class. Now that we've seen the President, we want to discuss what he told you. But first, everyone who's parents did not want them to listen to or pay attention to his words, raise your hands.... good, hold them up until I have the complete list... "

If you read the original lesson plan by the Education department, and even the REVISED lesson plan, and then read his speech, you can see that the speech doesn’t really lend itself to either lesson plan.

Which suggests this speech was really trimmed back from what it was supposed to be. THe lesson plan made it clear this was a call to arms for children to be involved in specific policy fights. Now it’s just a “stay in school, work hard, and you too could get to be President some day (so long as you have right communist buddies and a media who will ignore your incompetence).

Teachers need to ask students to post questions as to why the usurper, the illegal alien in the W.H., has sealed all his school records, including his long-form B.C. that they are not allowed to see, hmmmm????

Carol Platt Liebau was the first female managing editor of the Harvard Law Review;-—> “You would think this is the time he’d really knuckle down and get to work “
Carol Platt Liebau was first female managing editor of the Harvard Law Review;

“It reminds me a little bit of my experience with him [Obama]when he was president of the Harvard Law Review. You know, I hesitated to say a lot about this during the campaign because I really thought maybe it wasn’t fair. That maybe, finally, when he got to be President, this would be a job big enough to engage and hold Barack Obama’s sustained interest, because really, is there a bigger job out here?
[...]

“[W]hen he was at the HLR you did get a very distinct sense that he was the kind of guy who much more interested in being the president of the Review, than he was in doing anything as president of the Review.”

“A lot of the time he quote/unquote “worked from home”, which was sort of a shorthand - and people would say it sort of wryly - shorthand for not really doing much. He just wasn’t around. Most of the day to day work was carried out by the managing editor of the Review, my predecessor, a great guy called Tom Pirelli whose actually going to be one of the assistant attorney generals now.”

“He’s the one who did most of the day to day work. Barack Obama was nowhere to be seen. Occasionally he would drop in he would talk to people, and then he’d leave again as though his very arrival had been a benediction in and of itself, but not very much got done.”

“The Davis Miner Barnhill & Galland law firm, where Obama worked for nearly a decade, served as a hub for a slew of slumlord deals, many that benefited the firm’s founder, Allison Davis, and Obama’s claims that he knew nothing about the ‘inner workings’ of this small firm.

First Obama started out telling us that Tony Rezko only raised $50,000 or $60,000 for his political career.”

“Then after a year of lying his way through the primaries, the latest total he gave added up to $250,000.”

“Then for a year Obama minimized his relationship with Rezko by telling the media that he only had dinner or lunch with Rezko one or twice a year.”

“But when confronted by Sun-Times reporters with the allegation that an FBI mole saw him coming and going to Rezko’s office often and that three sources said he talked to Rezko on the phone daily, Obama then changed his tune.” You can just go on and on....

Interesting, thanks!

“The problem I have is with what the discussions might be afterwards by teachers who are predominately liberal.”

Rush made a great comment a few minutes ago on why it is wrong to address students.

It is because Obama believes nothing that he was saying.
It is do as I say, not why I do.
