The health care plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats contains many controversial items that divide the general public. However, one area of consensus among the public is the desire to restrict government health care benefits to U.S. citizens only.
Eighty-three percent (83%) of voters nationwide say that people should be required to prove they are a citizen of the United States before receiving government health care subsidies. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 12% disagree and five percent (5%) are not sure.
The desire to limit the benefits to U.S. citizens is found across demographic and partisan lines. It is held by 95% of Republicans, 70% of Democrats and 87% of those not affiliated with either major party. It is favored by nine-out-of-10 conservatives and moderates, along with 56% of those who consider themselves politically liberal. But 32% of liberals hold the opposite view.

WAKE UP, Congress. Can you hear us now?
I assume proof to be president was pretty low last November... Or even today.
Tougher requirements to get government subsidized health care than to be President.
Dang...83% are a bunch of racists. No wonder Van Jones hates us all so much...
This doesn’t mean much. The federal “judges” will rule it “unconstitutional” to deny the “right” to free healthcare to illegal aliens the same way they said that enemy combatants in Iraq and Afghanistan were covered under the U.S. Constitution.
But proof of citizenship is optional to serve as President!
The Dems might be OK with this. Force recipients to prove citizenship and a huge proportion of the ‘47,000,000 uninsured’ can’t get the aid. Then we have the system they want (socialized health care) but WE HAVE NOT SOLVED THE PROBLEM OF THE UNINSURED. So we need ANOTHER huge program and bureaucracy to take care of the problem that was not solved by the system that was supposed to solve all these problems. Which is custom made for the Dems to campaign on, cry about how the evil Republicans left them behind, etc.
The other 17% say that they should be given citizenship status, and that then they would promise to agree with the other 83%.
83% of all Americans are against amnesty.
98% of Dem congress critters and 5% of Repub congress critters want amnesty.
The public be damned.
The problem with this is that the government mandates that hospitals, so health care providers and all who work in health care are forced into basically indentured servitude! They can not be compensated for the care they are, under penalty of law and lawsuit, required to render.
As long as the government is going to require “all who enter shall be given care” they should compensate those who render the care.
Now, mandating an identity check of some sort should be included and immigration authorities should be available to transport them back to their home south of the border upon release from the hospital or ER.
STUPID CITIZENS!
Don't accept that premise!
Tell 'em to go to He!!
I hate poorly constructed polls,,, I’d be in the minority here as I would want legal aliens to be covered also.
I would give them help once, then ship them home.
“I assume proof to be president was pretty low last November... Or even today.”
Is this the wrong time to mention proof of residency and address to vote? It’s the same issue. A person has to provide ID to get on a plane, to get a driver’s license/renewal, to register in a hotel, to do most anything, but not to vote, thanks to the DemonRat Party.
The owner of the business I work for is a foreign national , here legally and paying taxes ,, serious taxes ,, for over 25 years.
Since he is an illegal alien, is HE then covered???
Since he is an illegal alien, is HE then covered???
Great. Let’s enroll Barry O.
