Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd made a valiant attempt to reschedule this month’s G20 summit so he could attend the Australian Rules Grand Final — before being rebuffed by US President Barack Obama.

Rudd, playing up to Australia’s sports-obsessed reputation despite dire times for the global economy, said he had tried to explain the game was the local equivalent of the US football’s Superbowl.

“I said to the president, ‘Look, have you heard of the AFL Grand Final? This is going to be a bit of a conflict’,” Rudd told commercial radio on Monday.

“I had to explain to him for a little bit what the AFL Grand Final is, but I said, ‘Look, can you imagine having a summit on the day that you’ve got the Superbowl over there?’”

“And he said ‘Kevin, I’m not moving the date’. So there you go.”

Rudd is dealing with a moron, I'd find any convenient way to avoid being near this disaster maker.

I’d watch Rugby League or AFL any day vs. spending 2 days with Obama. Australia would probably be better off for it also.

So the Aussie ought to just stay and watch the game. Invite Bibi Netanyahu and some other G20 leaders. Do not invite Hussein.

See, right now I am rooting for other countries to help awaken Americans as to the danger of the current White House occupant.

Germany’s Merkel gets it. Mr. Netanyahu gets it. The Brits are STARTING to get it. And Canada seems to get it.

Hussein is liked by Chavez, Castro, and apparently the NORKS are willing to take his messengers.

Imagine being the leader of a great country like Australia and having to ask Obama permission for ANYTHING?

Lord knows I would rather poke my own eye out first.

Zer0bama is so uncouth, undereducated in human relations, and m0r0nic that reading this caused me to throw up in my mouth.

He is so embarrassing and ORDINARY.

Obama is working to restore America’s standing — with brutal communist dictators. Our allies can go pound sand, apparently.

I have no doubt that 0 scheduled it then on purpose. After all, it might mean one less non-muslim nation he’d have to deal with.

Actually, President Obama is doing Australian conservatives an unexpected favour here - Kevin Rudd being unable to appear as the ‘everyman’ attending the Grand Final deprives him of an opportunity to gain votes and increase his popularity.
