DOJ goes after Katrina cops in dismissed case
The Times-Picayune ^ | September 05, 2009 | Brendan McCarthy and Laura Maggi

For the past several months, the federal building on Poydras Street has seen a steady stream of New Orleans police officers trudge in and out, all of them testifying before grand jurors gathering evidence of possible civil rights violations in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina -- allegations that center on police misbehavior.

Federal agents, meanwhile, have been studying police e-mails and documents obtained by subpoena -- as well as through a surprise search warrant executed on the New Orleans Police Department homicide office -- in an attempt to ferret out exactly what happened in the chaotic days after the storm.

The feds also have sent subpoenas seeking photographs to The Times-Picayune, and they have ordered a former photographer for the paper to testify before the grand jury.

I thought it was double jeopardy when papa Bush did it with the Rodney King cops....and I think it is double jeopardy now.

The probe has created a gnawing sense of anxiety within the department. Privately, officers have groused that the feds are using strong-arm tactics, not offering professional courtesy usually extended to fellow law enforcement agencies.

I would tend to view this as a positive sign. "Professional courtesy" has no place in enforcing the rule of law.

However, I don't see anything in there about the unlawful confiscation of firearms. Is the RKBA no longer a "civil right"?

How much chaos can Obama and his minions cause? We don’t know, but we will find out....he won’t finish until the police forces we have are askewed, so he can instill his ‘national citizen security forces’...Whites and Christians are under assault!

WHile I’ll be the first to admit the NOPD has its share of problems, this DOJ is not in this for Justice, its all about finding racial witches and goblins around every corner.

Most of those affected were black, now Holder is just leading the racial fight to divide this country again.

"Is the RKBA no longer a "civil right"? "

If you believe Sonya Sotomayer, it never was nor is it know a "civil right". Which begs the question, why did so many Republicans vote for her?

Could this have anything to do with Holder possibly wanting to ensure a protective bubble around the ACORN/SEIU headquarters?

Here is exactly what happened:

Smart people left when told to leave

Dumb people stayed when told to leave

Dumb people started looting and shooting at rescuers.

Cops responded.

Dumb people eventually started dying from stupidity.

Media blames Bush.

National Guard saves all the remaining stupid people from themselves.

Government pays billions to stupid people and houses them in swanky hotels and luxury cruise liners.

Everyone blames Bush, and live happily ever after.

Boston’s Bid Dig went from 3 to 15 billion in over runs. Mitt Romney’s efforts? Nada. Zip. Nada.

I read that something like hundreds of NOLA officers, on the pay roll, never even existed. Bush’s efforts? Nada. Zip. Zero.

Democrats steal. Republicans turn the other way.

Professional courtesy = corruption

Don’t empower people to have authority over you!

That is the first law of freedom.

answered by a chorus of:

But who will keep us safe?
