No.10 turns on Obama and Clinton for criticising decision to release Lockerbie bomber

President Obama and the US Secretary of State fuelled a fierce American backlash against Britain, claiming Abdelbaset Al Megrahi should have been forced to serve out his jail sentence in Scotland – but a senior Whitehall aide said their reaction was ‘disingenuous’.

British officials claim Mr Obama and Mrs Clinton were kept informed at all stages of discussions concerning Megrahi’s return.

The officials say the Americans spoke out because they were taken aback by the row over Megrahi’s release, not because they did not know it was about to happen.

‘The US was kept fully in touch about everything that was going on with regard to Britain’s discussions with Libya in recent years and about Megrahi,’ said the Whitehall aide.

‘We would never do anything about Lockerbie without discussing it with the US. It is disingenuous of them to act as though Megrahi’s return was out of the blue.

Ask that to the 53% who voted for the SOB.

Try again. O was elected by <1/3 of the voters.

‘We would never do anything about Lockerbie without discussing it with the US. It is disingenuous of them to act as though Megrahi’s return was out of the blue.'

Lying and tossing allies under the bus is Obama's way of life, as I suspect #10 knows all too well by now.

Seems Hillary’s SOP IS to disappear until the heat dies down anytime something blows up in her face.

She always disappears, or hides from the media, reinvents herself, and comes back later when a new topic is advantageous for her to ride back on, the other which caused her distress having become old news.

Precisely as stated in this article $2m witness payment, bogus forensic evidence and Pentagon memo blaming Iran: How Lockerbie bomber appeal threatened Scottish justice, the evidence could not be allowed to be tested in court, because it would prove embarrassing to the Clinton Administration as well.

Last week, FNC reported ONCE only, that Eric Holder had demanded the Scottish withhold the US's portion of corresponence when the UK and Scots released theirs.

If not...again...why this rather pathetic prisoner?

Perhaps it's simply an opportunity to thumb their nose at the west (particularly the U.S.).

They want America to appear weak; and they're succeeding.

that entire argument rests on 10 Downing saying duly noted. i doubt thats the case since zero is doing whatever he can to curry favor with the muzzies. its doubtful he would have protested at all hence never leaving the Brits with the option of that response.
If the negative response wasn’t so immediate he most assuredly would have praised their “courageous decision”.

It’s a pretty sad commentary on the state of affairs in the USA when you are more inclined to believe the Brits than your own government.

But No. 10 doesn't go to "liar" from "disingenuous" as the truth could conceivably justify, but says only they were "said to have been ‘disappointed’ by the force of Washington’s response

That's customary diplomacy-speak. The political lexicon is filled with these euphemisms, and everyone knows what's meant. You're not going to hear heads of state call other heads of state liars...unless it's someone like Chavez or Castro or Saddam Hussein and the like doing the name-calling. It's just not done.

By calling Obama and Clinton "disingenuous," 10 Downing indeed called them liars. And Obama and Clinton know it.

Meanwhile...

Lockerbie bomber release inquiry dismissed

When asked by ITV News if there would be an investigation into the release, Mr Balls said: " I don't think there is a case for an inquiry because everything's out in the public domain, people are seeing what's happening."

Then why the redactions in the docs...?
